Chapter 97: A Series of Blows
(Amelia’s POV)
Claim
I leaned back against my hospital bed, watching Ethan squirm under Alaric’s relentless gaze. My brother tried to salvage what little dignity he had left.
“Grandfather, we never ignored Amelia’s talents,” Ethan said, his voice growing weaker with each word. “We just… we needed to be cautious about sudden changes in the family.”
Alaric’s eyes narrowed to sharp slits. “Cautious? Or threatened?”
Ethan’s mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for air. No words came out.
“Let me tell you what I see,” Alaric continued, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade. “You and your parents can’t accept that a child raised in Meadow Brook is more talented than the heirs you carefully groomed.”
The old man’s words hit their mark. Ethan’s face turned an ugly shade of gray.
“Your Alpha pride is wounded,” Alaric pressed on. “You can’t stand the fact that someone you considered beneath you has surpassed everything you’ve achieved.”
Ethan’s jaw clenched. His hands trembled slightly at his sides.
“That’s not-” he started to protest.
“Isn’t it?” Alaric interrupted. “Tell me, Ethan. What has Celine accomplished that makes her more valuable to this family than Amelia?”
Silence stretched between them. Ethan stared at the floor, unable to answer.
Alaric turned his piercing gaze toward me. “Amelia, are you the author known as ‘Lily‘?”
I met his eyes calmly. “Yes, I am.”
The admission hung in the air like a death sentence. I watched as the last spark of hope died in Ethan’s eyes. His face went completely white.
He finally understood. His grand plan to buy Lily’s copyrights and save his inheritance was now impossible. He’d been trying to purchase rights from his own sister.
*My wolf Ava stirred in my consciousness, her voice filled with dark satisfaction: “Look at him. He looks like he’s seen a ghost.“*

Ethan’s legs seemed to give out slightly. He grabbed the back of a chair for support.
“How long have you been writing?” Alaric asked me, his tone gentler now.
“Since I was fifteen,” I replied. “Robert encouraged me to pursue it when he saw my early work.”
Alaric nodded approvingly. “And your medical knowledge?”
“Also from Robert. He taught me everything he knew about healing.”
“Remarkable,” Alaric murmured. “Truly remarkable.”

Ethan let out a strangled sound. All his plans, all his schemes to maintain control of Starlight Entertainment, had just crumbled to dust.
Alaric’s attention snapped back to my brother. His voice became ice–cold.
“Ethan, you have until the end of this month.”
“What?” Ethan’s voice cracked.
“If Starlight Entertainment doesn’t meet its performance targets by month–end, management will be transferred to Amelia immediately.”
The ultimatum hit Ethan like a physical blow. His entire body went rigid with shock.
“Grandfather, please,” he begged, his voice barely above a whisper. “Give me more time. The market conditions-”
“No excuses,” Alaric cut him off ruthlessly. “You’ve had years to prove yourself. This is your final chance.”
Ethan’s face cycled through emotions – shock, desperation, anger, and finally resignation. He looked like a man watching his own execution.
“Do you understand?” Alaric demanded.
Ethan nodded mutely. His throat worked as if he were trying to swallow something bitter.
He turned toward the door, moving like a man in a trance. His shoulders sagged with defeat.
“Ethan,” I called out, my voice calm and mocking.
He froze at the doorway, not turning around.
“Give Celine a message for me,” I continued, enjoying every word. “Tell her that Rhys Calder is the Alpha’s son of the Calder Pack. He’s the sole heir to the family that controls the most

advanced medical resources in the territory.”
Ethan’s shoulders tensed. He slowly turned to face me, his expression like he’d seen a ghost.
*Ava let out a pleased growl in my mind: “Look at that beaten dog expression. How satisfying.“*
“You… you knew?” Ethan stammered.

“I’ve always known,” I replied with a cold smile. “Unlike some people, I don’t judge others by their current appearance.”
Ethan’s face went from white to green. The implications were sinking in. Celine had not only lost her chance with a powerful heir, but she’d also insulted him in the process.
Without another word, Ethan stumbled out of the room. The door closed behind him with a soft click.
The room fell silent. Alaric studied me for a long moment, his expression thoughtful.
“Amelia,” he said finally, his tone serious. “I understand you’ve been wronged. But when you take your revenge, remember to consider the pack’s honor. Don’t go too far.”
I met his gaze steadily. “As long as no one provokes me first, I never abuse my power.”
Alaric nodded approvingly. “Good. That’s the wisdom I expect from a true Stone.”
He paused, then asked, “Should I contact the Crimson Moon Pack to postpone the engagement ceremony? Given your injuries-”
“No,” I interrupted firmly. “Everything proceeds as planned.”
“Are you certain? You need time to recover.”
“I’m fine,” I assured him. “A few bruises won’t stop me from fulfilling my obligations.”
Alaric studied my face, then nodded. “Very well. I’ll leave you to rest.”
After he left, Seraphina moved closer to my bed. Her face was creased with worry.
“Amelia, I’m concerned about the investigation,” she said quietly. “What if they tamper with the evidence?”
Jaxon took her hand in his, his touch reassuring. “I’ll arrange for additional security. No one will interfere with the investigation.”
I looked at my adoptive parents, their concern touching something deep in my chest. These

“Don’t worry,” I said softly. “If Caleb really cut those brake lines himself, Pack Law will judge him accordingly. We just need to wait for the results.”
Seraphina squeezed my hand. “I just can’t believe he would try to kill you.”
“Believe it,” I replied. “Some people will do anything when they feel cornered.”
(Celine’s POV)
In the rest room next door, I paced back and forth like a caged animal. My nerves were stretched to the breaking point.
Livia sat in a chair, her voice rising with each curse she hurled at the absent Alaric. “That old fool! He’s completely lost his mind, favoring that wild wolf over his own family!”
“Mother, please,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “Your shouting won’t help anything.”
“Help?” Livia shrieked. “Nothing will help! That girl has bewitched everyone in this family!”
The door burst open and Ethan stumbled in. His face was pale as death, his eyes hollow and
empty.
I rushed to his side immediately. “Ethan! What happened? You look terrible.”
Adrian jumped up from his chair. “Son, what did the old man say?”
Ethan’s voice came out as a hoarse whisper. “If we don’t meet performance targets by month–end, Starlight Entertainment goes to Amelia.”
The words hit the room like a bomb. Adrian’s face turned purple with rage.
“That’s impossible!” he roared. “The company belongs to our branch of the family!”
Livia wailed dramatically. “We’re ruined! That scheming girl has destroyed everything!”
I forced myself to stay calm, even as panic clawed at my chest. I had to think, had to find a
solution.
“Maybe we can still buy Lily’s copyrights,” I suggested, trying to sound rational. “If we get those treatment notes, we can definitely meet the targets.”
Ethan looked at me with dead eyes. A bitter laugh escaped his throat.
“That’s impossible now,” he said, his voice hollow with despair.
“Why?” I demanded. “What’s changed?”

Ethan’s laugh grew more desperate. “Amelia is Lily. She’s been the famous author this whole
time.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. I staggered backward, my hand flying to my chest.
No. This couldn’t be happening.
If Amelia was Lily, then not only could we not get the copyrights, but she had also completely surpassed me in talent. The girl I’d always looked down on was a literary genius.
My world tilted on its axis. Everything I’d believed about myself, about my superiority over Amelia, crumbled in an instant.
“That’s… that’s impossible,” I whispered, but even as I said it, I knew it was true.
Ethan wasn’t finished destroying my world. He looked at me with those dead eyes and spoke
again.
“There’s more,” he said, his voice completely flat. “Amelia had a message for you.”
My blood turned to ice in my veins.“What message?” I forced myself to ask.
