Chapter 123
Imema’s POV
I spot Aires standing alone near the corner of the hallway, his tall frame tense under the harsh fluorescent lights. His eyes are fixed intently on something further down the corridor.
I follow his gaze, and feel a sharp twist of fury in my gut. It’s Talia, just a few feet away from him, with her back to Aires, going farther away with each step.
The sight of his pitiful gaze fixed on hwr makes bile rise in my throat. How dare she! After everything, he’s still looking at her like that?
I frown, trying to appear fragile yet more worried about him than my own health. I slouch slightly, making my steps slightly smaller and more hesitant, remembering to pinch my palms hard enough to bring tears to my eyes.
By the time I reach him, two perfect tears have slid down my cheeks.
“Alpha…” I whisper softly, my voice trembling. “I was so anxious after you left. I couldn’t just sit there waiting, so I came to check on you. Are you okay? You look so tense…”
Aires barely glances at me. His eyes remain locked on Talia and

Raymond as they disappear around the corner. He hums in response, completely distracted.
Irritation crawls up my spine.
I step closer, gently touching his arm.
“I hope, Aires…. you won’t hate me for what happened today, right? I was only trying to cheer Aeson up, I never thought things would turn out like this. I feel so useless that I couldn’t even protect Aeson from falling for her tricks…‘
Inside my heart, anger is burning.
وو
This was supposed to break them apart! Talia was supposed to be the villain, and instead, he’s standing here staring after her like a lost dog.
Something has changed between us, this can’t be the same Aires who used to look at me with warmth and protectiveness. Now, he is deliberately putting distance between us.
Can it be… can it be that he still cares about her? Even after all my careful plans, he still has a soft spot for that worthless
woman.
“I don’t… I don’t know what I’ll do if you both hate me, Aires. You’re the only reason I came back to Zenithara, and that little boy has become the centre of my world! You two are only5:10

Aires finally speaks, his voice low and slightly detached.

“Don’t worry, Imema, nobody is blaming you. But
be more careful in the future.”
He says, rubbing his temple. “Both you and Aeson are relatively vulnerable right now. You’re still battling a serious illness— your body is weak, and you get tired easily. And Aeson… he’s just a child. He gets distracted too quickly, after all, he is quite emotionally disturbed after everything that’s happening at home. It’s not safe for you to take him out alone like that again.”
I feel like I’ve been slapped across the face.
He’s scolding me now?
I swallow my fury and lower my head, letting my voice come out soft and obedient. “Yes, Alpha. I understand. I’ll be more careful from now on. I never want to put Aeson in danger again.”
He nods once, but his eyes are still following the empty space where Talia had been. The indifference in his posture, the way he doesn’t even look at me properly… it makes my blood boil.

on Aeson now,” I say softly, my voice full of concern. “He must be scared after everything. I’ll stay with him so he doesn’t feel alone.”
Aires hums again, barely acknowledging me. “Go ahead.”
I turn away slowly, keeping my steps measured while, resentment coils inside my heart like a snake
But I won’t break just yet. I’ll be more patient, more careful. I’ll tighten my hold until he has no choice but to see me as his only option.
Aeson’s POV
The door opens, and I look up to see Ms. Volkov and Nick walking in together. Ms. Volkov’s face is soft with concern, her eyes searching the room until they land on me. Nick follows behind her, carrying a small bag of fruit.

“Aeson, where’s your dad? Why isn’t he here with you?”
Seeing her makes my chest tighten. She came. She actually came to see me. After everything that happened today, someone came
for me.
“Dad and Mom went out.” My voice comes out smaller than I meant, still raw from earlier.

Ms. Volkov’s eyes flicker with interest. “Ms. Perseus came too?”
I nod listlessly, thinking about Mom. The way she looked at me. The way she wouldn’t answer my question about who she’d save first. The way she just left.
Ms. Volkov moves closer, her voice gentle and warm. “Aeson, your dad where did you go today? Do you know how worried was? He was beside himself looking for you.”
Nick chimes in, eager as always. “Yeah, where did you go? Imema heard you ran away from home. She was so worried she couldn’t even make it to her appointment. She rushed straight here to find you
instead.”
He lets out a cold laugh. “As for your mom? Aires found out she was at the amusement park, but she wouldn’t admit it. Hung up on him. Told him to go find you himself and stop bothering her.”
My head snaps up. “Mom knew I was missing?”
Nick shrugs casually, enjoying his role. “Of course. Aires called her the minute he realized you were gone. And you know what she said?” He pauses for effect, letting the silence stretch. “If he’s gone, look for him. What’s the point of calling me?“”
The words hit like stones thrown at my
chest.

Chapter 123
Mom used to be so worried about me. When I was little and got sick, she’d call everyone. She’d cry. She’d panic. She’d sit by my bed all night.
Now she doesn’t care at all.
It’s Robin’s fault. He’s poisoned her against me. Made her think I’m the bad one, the liar, the bully. While he plays the victim and gets all her love.
“She’s a bad mom,” I whisper, my face twisting with hurt and anger I can’t hide anymore.
Nick nods, leaning in conspiratorially. “And you know, last time your mom only beat Imema because she cheated. Spilled juice all over her, then played that famous violin–Sonetica. With all those advantages, she barely won by 0.1 points. Nothing to brag
about.”
My eyes go dim. For a moment back there, I thought Mom was amazing. I thought maybe I’d been wrong about her. Maybe she really was talented and special.
But Ms. Volkov and Nick are right. Mom barely finished high school. How could she be better than someone from one of the best music universities in the world?
And I saw her throw that juice myself. I saw the mess she made, the way Ms. Volkov looked so hurt.

Ms. Volkov’s voice pulls me from my thoughts, soft and careful. “Aeson, what did your parents go out to talk about?”
I shake my head. “I don’t know. They just went into the hallway.”
She pauses, then asks even more softly, “Aeson, do your parents will get divorced?”

The question jolts me like electricity. “How could they?!” My voice comes out too loud, too high. “I just asked Dad, and he said Mom isn’t going to divorce him! He promised!”
