Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 127

Chapter 124

Nick’s POV

A flicker of worry crosses Imema’s face as she watches Aires and Talia disappear into the hallway. I see it clearlythe fear that something is shifting, that Aires’s attention might be drifting.

I pat her shoulder reassuringly. Imema, I’ll go find Aires and bring him back. Don’t worry.

She smiles that gentle smile, the one that makes everyone want to protect her. Okay, I’ll stay here with Aeson.

On the way here, Imema hinted at how Aires’s attitude toward Talia seems to be changing. I heard the concern in her voice, the unspoken fear.

But I’m not worried. Aires doesn’t think much of Talia- she’s just a middle school dropout, a housewife with no real accomplishments. As long as I’m around, I’ll make sure they never end up together.

Playing hard to get? Trying to make him chase her? Aires won’t fall for it.

Besides, I have my own reasons for wanting Talia to lose. Last time, she made me bark like a dog in front of everyone.

Kumiliated me in the worst way possible. I haven’t forgotten

that. I’ll never forget it.

This time, I’m determined to make sure she doesn’t come out on

top.

I leave the room to find Aires. In reality, I’m not just bringing him backI’m here to sabotage whatever might be developing between them. That performance at the competition was luck, nothing more. Talia got lucky, outplayed Imema by chance.

But who knows if Aires might be drawn to her because of it? I know better than anyone how much Aires admires women who play the violin well. It’s how Imema caught his attention in the first place.

I pull out my phone and call Aires. No answer.

Frowning, I walk through the hospital corridors, scanning every corner. Finally, in a quiet alcove near the end of the hall, I spot them.

Aires and Taliatogether! Alone-?

Imema’s concerns were right. Talia is showing her true colors now, trying to charm Aires, trying to win him back.

My eyes narrow. I want to see just how shameless she’ll be.

can’t get too closethey might notice me. But from this distance, I catch fragments of their conversation.

Not getting divorced.Don’t want anything.Meet tomorrow at 10 AM.

My eyes widen. What does this mean? Is Talia giving up? Is Aires agreeing to something?

I lean in further, desperate to hear more-

Aires’s head snaps around. His eyes lock onto me.

Nick. What are you doing?

I straighten up, showing no embarrassment at being caught. I smile smoothly. I heard Aeson’s been found. Imema and I came to check on him.

Talia glances at me, then looks away. Without another word, she turns and walks off.

I’ll head out now. Don’t forget what you promised. Tomorrow at ten. Don’t be late.

She’s gone before I can respond.

I scoff, rolling my eyes at her retreating back, then turn to Aires. So where are you two going tomorrow?

Aires’s sharp features remain unreadable, his voice cool. Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t.

I grin, leaning in. You’re not going on a date, are you?

A date?His eyebrow rises slightly.

AiresPOV

My steps falter, something dark and unreadable stirring in my chest. Talia wouldn’t really divorce me. If she wanted to leave, she wouldn’t have created this whole scene with Aeson. She wouldn’t have come to the hospital at all. She wouldn’t have stood there in that hallway, looking at me with those cold, unreadable eyes.

Nick’s voice cuts through my thoughts, smug and certain. See? I told you. She’s not going to divorce you. This is all just another stunt to get your attention. First faking illness, then pretending to be kidnappeddoes she never get tired of these childish games? Don’t let her fool you, Aires.

He pauses, leaning closer. If I’m right, she probably came up with some excuse to get you to meet her tomorrow, right? That’s how these things work. She’ll show up looking perfect, say all the right things, try to reel you back in.

I don’t respond, but my silence isn’t agreement.

Before, I would have dismissed her tactics exactly as Nick described. Another manipulation. Another performance. Another desperate bid for my attention.

But now?

Now I’ve seen another side of her. The woman on that stage, playing with such passion, such skill, such raw emotion. My wife isn’t as dull and unremarkable as I once believed. She’s not just a pretty face who cooks and cleans.

I find myself wanting to know more.

Meeting her tomorrow isn’t a concession. It’s curiosity. I want to see how she’s planned this, how she’ll try to make amends. What angle she’ll play. What version of herself she’ll present.

Since Talia moved out, I’ve realized how much work goes into raising a child alone. She handled everythingthe household, Aeson’s schedule, his meals, his health. I have to admit, she made my life easier. She made all of our lives easier, and I never noticed.

If she understands where she went wrong, and for Aeson’s sakeI could give her another chance. Begrudgingly. Carefully.

Nick keeps talking, but I’ve stopped listening. His words wash over memore criticism, more warnings, more venombut I’m

the way

Finally, as we approach Aeson’s room, I cut him off.

Nick.My voice is cold, final. Talia is still Aeson’s mother. Don’t speak about her like that in front of him again.

Nick freezes midstep, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.

I push open the door and walk inside, leaving him in the hallway.
