Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 214

Chapter 209

Robin’s POV

I watch the three boys close in on Aeson like wolves circling a rabbit. Big kids. Meanlooking. The kind who think throwing their weight around makes them important.

None of this is my problem. Aeson made his bed. Let him lie in

  1. it.

Even if he isn’t the reason everyone at school avoids me now, I still wouldn’t lift a finger to help him. I call his name like we’re friends, like there’s something between us. But there isn’t. There

.never was.

What do I really want? What I actually envy? It’s the one thing Aeson has that I’ll never get. A mother who breathes. A mother who cooks. A mother who exists in the same world as him.

And what does he do with that gift? He throws it away. He acts like she’s a stain on his perfect life. Like loving her back is too

much trouble.

So no, I don’t feel sorry for him. I don’t care if the whole school pretends he’s invisible. As long as Talia still sees me, still smiles at me, still makes soup for me when I’m sick? Nothing else

matters. 1/5

I don’t answer him. I don’t even slow down. I just turn my back and keep moving.

Aeson’s POV

My heart is hammering so hard I think everyone can hear it. Robin is walking away. Actually walking away. Leaving me here with them.

I’ve had my problems with Robin. Lots of them. He’s tricky and sneaky and always seems to twist things so I end up looking like the villain. But he’s never laid a hand on me. Not once.

That’s why I’ve never been afraid of him. Annoyed, yes. Furious, sometimes. But never scared.

These three? They’re a whole different story. They don’t need tricks or games. They’ve got fists. And they’re not afraid to use them.

r

Gavin watches Robin disappear toward the gate, and a nasty smile spreads across his face. He turns back to me, eyes gleaming.

Looks like you’re not exactly winning any popularity contests at your new school. He rocks on his heels, enjoying himself. All those perfect grades and fancy vocabulary, and you still can’t get anyone to stand next to you.

I want to disappear, I want the ground to open up and swallow me whole.

Nobody here knows about your mom yet, do they?Gavin’s grin stretches wider. About all the stupid things she’s done?

One of his friends giggles.

Don’t worry, though.Gavin pats my cheek too hard. We’ll make sure everyone finds out. Consider it a welcome gift.

I didn’t realise that my gaze was silently following Robin until I see him stop near the gate, hearing Gavin’s words.

The other night, my mom was talking on the phone. She said your mom barely finished school. Said she probably can’t even spell her own name right. Isn’t that hilarious?

He stops walking and turns around slowly, almost like a robot whose switch has been flipped suddenly.

What did you just say?

His voice sounds strange and quiet, it’s not loud at all but everyone hears it.

Gavin’s eyes light up. He thinks he’s hooked on a new target, or perhaps a new person who wants to hear the dirty details about mpathetic mother.

toes. Last year, at Acson’s birthday party? His mom totally ate it in front of everyone. Facefirst into the floor. I almost choked on my cake from laughing so hard!

My face goes red. I scream out, my voice cracking as he speaks. That’s not what happened! Someone pushed her!

I try to defend her, even though I only can’t stand to be seen with hereven though I myself let everyone believe she was just the nanny and Imema, who shines so bright, is my motherbut I can’t help but defend her right?

And that night, I saw it myself. Uncle Nick’s friends made mom fall on purpose. They thought it was funny, and nobody apologized. Then Grandma blamed Talia for embarrassing the family and told her to stay away from future events.

When dad got to know, he told uncle Nick to knock it off, but they didn’t get any punishment apart from a quick word of scolding.

That’s the rule in the world of adults, grandma told me. In the Werewolf society, the powerful ones make the rules. The weak ones follow. And when dad and grandma showed everyone how little they thought of mom, everyone else got the message loud

and clear.

So they all treat her like dirt now. Still do. Even the ones who’ve never met her.

hard! Ha!

He doesn’t finish the word.

Robin’s fist slams into Gavin’s face before any of us understand what’s happening. The sound is thick and wet. Gavin stumbles backward, his hand flying to his cheek.

I stare. I can’t do anything but stare.

YYou hit me?Gavin’s voice wobbles between shock and fury. You actually hit me?

The whole courtyard seems to hold its breath.

Gavin has never been hit before. Not really. He’s the biggest kid in every room. The one whom other kids cross the street to avoid. Nobody dares to swing at him.

And Robin? Robin looks like a light breeze would knock him over. Thin arms. Narrow shoulders. The kind of kid you’d expect to see getting stuffed into lockers, not throwing punches at giants.

But there he stands. Hand still raised. Face completely calm.

Gavin’s friends don’t move. They just gape at Robin like they’ve never seen him before.
