Alpha's Discarded Luna (Talia) novel Chapter 269

Chapter 267

Talia’s POV

Robin watches us from the doorway, the young wolf’s eyes sharp and knowing. Dad, bring Aunt Tia back safe.

He ruffles his hair softly, Of course.”

I look at Robin, my fevered mind struggling to focus. Then what about Robin?

Raymond’s voice is calm, assured. I will have the driver take

him home.

Robin steps forward, his small hand patting my arm. Aunt Tia, you don’t need to worry about me.His eyes are steady, older than his years. I will go back with the family driver in a little while.

Seeing this, I do not refuse again. My body has no energy left for

arguing.

After getting into Raymond’s car, I give him the address Electra sent, and then close my eyes. The leather seat is cool against my heated skin. My mind is foggy, thoughts slipping through my fingers like water. My body is weak and powerless, every muscle aching.

I lean against the window and fall asleep within minutes.

I am woken by someone after an unknown amount of time. A hand on my shoulder, gentle but insistent. A voice cutting through the haze.

Tia, wake up.

I open my eyes with difficulty. My mind is blank for a moment, disoriented, not knowing where I am. The world swims around me, colors bleeding into shapes.

Soon, I remember Electra’s matter. The call. The fear in her voice. The shouting in the background.

Have we arrived yet?I slowly unbuckle my seatbelt, fumbling with the clasp. My fingers feel thick and clumsy.

ľ

I open the car door and get out. As soon as my feet touch the ground, my legs go weak. The world tilts, and I almost fall.

A long, slender, fair finger with distinct knuckles catches me just in time. Raymond’s hand wraps around my arm, steadying me.

Talia, can you still walk? His voice is different now. A rare seriousness appears in his usually affectionate, smiling eyes. The playful glint is gone, replaced by something focused and intent. Why do not you wait here for me? I will go find her.

He looks at me like I might faint if a slight breeze blows by. He is

not wrong.

No need.I close my eyes and rest for a moment, leaning against the car. The cool metal presses against my back. I will be fine after a rest.

A minute passes, maybe two. I open my eyes again.

Let’s go.

Author’s POV

Inside the soundproof, closed doors of the private room, it was absolute chaos. Overturned glasses littered the floor. A broken bottle lay in pieces near the wall. The air smelled of alcohol and aggression.

Electra was already being held against the wall by several bodyguards. Her arms were pinned behind her back. Her cheeks were red and swollen, clearly from being slapped quite a few times. Her lip was split, a thin line of blood tracing down her chin.

One of the young, wealthy men sat on a leather couch in the center of the room. A white bandage was wrapped around his head, stark against his dark hair. His eyes were fixed on Electra with murderous intent, his gaze filled with ruthlessness. This was Jeffrey Soren.

I heard you called for backup? His voice was cold, mocking. Let us see who dares to take you away today!

No sooner had he finished speaking than the door to the private room was pushed open. It swung wide, hitting the wall with a dull thud.

A palefaced woman and a handsome, languid man walked in. The woman looked ill, her skin almost translucent, her steps unsteady. But there was something in her eyes that made the bodyguards hesitate.

The moment he saw the woman, Jeffrey Soren’s eyes lit up. A look of amazement flashed across his face, raw and hungry.

Wow! He had thought an angel had crossed his path earlier so that he could make her fall from gracebut this woman! She was even prettier than that woman

A malicious smile crept across his lips as he sized Talia up and down, his gaze lingering on her figure, her face, her lips. He looked like a predator eyeing its prey, already calculating how to

claim it.

Jeffrey Soren was quite a pervert and lecher by nature. Everyone in their circle knew it, that whenever he saw a beautiful woman he liked, he would stop at nothing to get her. Consequences meant nothing to him. His family always cleaned

up his messes.

Not long ago, he had seen Electra in the corridor. She was walking alone, and he had forcibly pulled her into the private room. His men had helped hold her down. He had assumed she would be easy prey.

The Soren family was a prominent family in the city. Wealthy, connected save almost untouchable. Jeffrey had done this kind of thing quite often, and his audacity had grown with each successful coverup.

He did not expect Electra to fight back. He did not expect her to grab a bottle and smash it over his head. Now he wanted revenge, and more than that, he wanted the pretty newcomer who had just walked through his door.

Who are you?Jeffrey asked, leaning back on the couch. His eyes never left Talia’s face. Are you here to save your little

friend?
