Chapter 268
Jeffrey’s POV
But who’s going to save you from me…?
Right as I am pondering how to win over this new beauty, I suddenly feel a cold and unfriendly gaze boring into the back of my head. The hairs on my neck stand up as my wolf growls low in warning.
Since this gorgeous woman has is angel entered my private room, my entire attention has been focused on her. The way the dim lights caught the angles of her face…the way her lips parted slightly as she surveyed the room for her friend.
It’s almost like, she has taken up all my attention, like there is no one in the room apart from the two of us. I don’t care if anyone else came with her, whoever he or she may be!
୮
I turn my head unhappily, ready to see who dares to disturb my sight of the beautiful woman.
And it’s at that moment, that I meet Raymond’s gaze.
My blood runs cold.
I am taken aback for a moment, my mind struggling to catch up. Then my eyes widen. Recognition hits me like a fist to the gut.

“Al- Alpha Raymond Capaldi…?” The words come out strangled, barely a whisper.
As I meet Alpha Raymond’s eyes, my whole body shudders involuntarily. My wolf cowers beneath my skin, submitting without a fight.
“Alpha Capaldi!” I force my voice to steady, though my hands are trembling. “What brings you here?”
Raymond glances at me, his expression unreadable. “What, am I not welcome to join your little party?”
All the rush of confidence and power that I have been feeling so far leaves me in a single breath. There is no strength left to argue. I stand up quickly, almost knocking over my chair, and speak with trepidation.
“How could that be?” My voice is too high, too eager. “It is my honor that you would come to visit me!” I gesture toward the couch. “Please, have a seat.”
Raymond’s lips curl slightly, but there is no warmth in it. “No need to sit down.” His voice is lazy, almost bored. “I am here to pick someone up.”
The people in this private room are all my friends, we have been drinking together, covering for each other and spending all our

time in each other’s company all these years.
So, it’s rather easy to figure out who the only outsider is, and whom Alpha Raymond has himself come to pick up.
My brain instantly freezes. Thoughts scatter like cockroaches in the light.
I stammer out at last, “I am so sorry. I did not know this young lady was your friend.” I bow my head, my voice cracking. “I am so sorry for offending you.”
I shout at my bodyguards, my voice shrill. “What are you all standing there for? Release her right now!”
Electra’s POV
The bodyguards do not dare to delay. They release me immediately, stepping back as if I am suddenly made of fire. My arms ache from being pinned. My shoulders burn.

I am utterly embarrassed. My cheeks are red and swollen, hot to the touch. I cover them with my hands, though it does nothing to hide the damage. I whisper, my voice small and broken.
“I am sorry, Talia. I have bothered you yet again.”
In today’s society, bandits and thugs like Jeffrey Soren are rarely seen anymore. People like him exist in a different world, a workd

where money buys silence and power shields consequences. I have encountered groping before, the casual touch of entitled hands. But never anything like this.
This was no different from a woman being forcibly abducted in
the street.
Talia gently comforts me, her voice soft despite her obvious illness. “Electra, it is alright.” She places a hand on my arm, steadying me.
Raymond looks at Jeffrey Soren with a half–smile. The expression does not reach his eyes. “Jeffrey, why did you make that young lady cry?”
Jeffrey Soren knows he has really kicked a hornet’s nest this time. I see it in the way his face drains of color. I see it in the way
his hands shake.
He suddenly kneels down on the ground.
୮
The thud of his knees against the floor echoes through the silent
room.
He begins slapping himself. The sound is sharp, rhythmic, horrifying.
“I was wrong.” His voice is muffled, desperate. “I was blind this time. I will never dare to do it again!”

He does not hold back. He hits himself hard, his palms cracking against his cheeks. His face swells in just a few moments, red and blotchy.
Fearing that Raymond will not feel satisfied, Jeffrey Soren picks up a wine bottle from the coffee table. The glass is thick, heavy. He raises it above his head.
And smashes it against his own skull.
“Bang, bang.”
The bottle shatters. Glass shards scatter across the private room, glittering like broken stars on the dark carpet. Blood trickles down his forehead, mixing with the remnants of alcohol.
No one dares to stop it.
r
The private room is completely silent. The only sound is the clinking of falling glass and Jeffrey’s ragged breathing.
I am stunned by this move. I have never seen someone so powerful brought so low. I have never seen arrogance crumble so completely.
Only after Jeffrey Soren knocks himself unconscious does Raymond finally look away. His expression is unchanged, as if he has just witnessed something as mundane as a traffic light

turning green.
He turns to Talia. “We have picked her up.” His voice is calm, unhurried. “Should we not go now?”
Talia nods slightly. Her face is still pale, her body still trembling with fever. But her eyes are steady.
She takes my arm, and we walk toward the door.
No one stops us, in fact the bodyguards step aside, heads bowed. The wealthy young men stare at the floor, afraid to meet anyone’s gaze.
Jeffrey Soren lies unconscious among the broken glass, his face swollen to the point that he’s not even recognisable anymore.
