Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 134

Driven by curiosity, I trailed behind him down a corridor leading to a section of the base I had rarely ventured into before. He came to a halt in front of a door and motioned for me to step inside first.

The room revealed itself as an indoor garden, crowned with a glass dome ceiling that offered a breathtaking view of the night sky. Various plants, differing in shape and size, filled the space, while a gentle, sweet aroma lingered softly in the air.

“It’s quieter here,” Andy explained, his voice calm. “And you can still see the stars.”

I moved deeper into the room, taking in the serene atmosphere. “I never knew this place existed,” I admitted, my eyes wandering over the carefully arranged greenery.

“These are night-blooming plants,” Andy said, pointing toward fragile white flowers that seemed to shimmer faintly in the moonlight. “It’s a little passion of mine. Reminds me there’s still beauty in the world worth fighting for.”

As he guided me through the garden, I noticed a softness in his expression—a tenderness I hadn’t seen before. This side of Andy, so gentle and deeply invested in something beyond our mission, was entirely new to me.

We paused beneath the glass dome, gazing upward at the stars twinkling through the transparent panels. Andy stood close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating off him. A subtle thrill ran through me, a mix of comfort and unease sparked by his proximity.

“You were incredible today, Kira,” he said, turning toward me. His hand lifted slowly, brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear with a delicate touch. “Not just skilled, but truly brave.”

My heart skipped a beat at his touch, breath hitching as his gaze drifted down to my lips. For a fleeting moment, I thought he might kiss me. A part of me longed for that—to feel something real and immediate, something that could pull me away from the shadows of my past. But as he leaned in, an unwelcome image of Rocco flashed through my mind, sharp and intrusive. I instinctively stepped back, my chest tightening with confusion and turmoil.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “I just… I can’t.”

Andy straightened, his understanding clear in his eyes. “It’s Rocco, isn’t it? Even after everything, you still have feelings for him.”

His words struck me like a physical blow. My stomach twisted with frustration at the tangled emotions inside me. “I don’t know what I feel,” I confessed, running a hand through my hair in exasperation. “I hate him for what he’s done, for being part of the Triads. But then, when I see him…” I trailed off, unable to express the chaotic storm of feelings that surged whenever I thought of my former mate.
