Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14

When we arrived, Dark Moon was still packed to the brim, the deep thumping bass vibrating through the thick walls and filling the air with an almost tangible energy. I moved swiftly past the long queue outside, deliberately tuning out the murmurs and sideways glances directed my way. The club manager hurried over at once, his face lighting up with a forced smile.

“Alpha Blackwood! What a surprise to see you here…” he began.

I cut him off sharply. “Where is Kira Silverstone?”

His grin faltered, and for a moment, I saw hesitation flicker in his eyes. “Ms. Silverstone and her companion left about twenty minutes ago, sir.”

Anger surged through me, and I slammed my fist against the plastered wall. The sharp crack echoed in the corridor. “Find her. Now.”

My team fanned out inside the club, searching every corner, but it was useless. Her scent lingered faintly in the air, but it was tangled with too many others to follow. The frustration gnawed at me.

Dominic approached carefully, his voice low. “Sir, it appears Ms. Silverstone may have already secured a new place to stay.”

I growled, the words bitter in my throat. “She thinks she can just take my money and vanish? That this is over?”

A young male server passed nearby, and suddenly, a familiar scent caught my attention—Kira’s unmistakable fragrance. Instinct took over. I grabbed the man by the throat, lifting him effortlessly off the ground. “You. You served her tonight.”

His eyes widened in terror as he gasped, struggling to speak. “P-please, Alpha, I was only doing my job.”

I tightened my grip. “Does your job include kneeling for my mate?”

Before I could squeeze harder, Dominic stepped in, holding up his phone. “Sir, the security footage shows he was merely serving her juice. Nothing inappropriate happened. She wasn’t even drinking alcohol.”

I released the trembling server, who scrambled away as fast as he could. Turning to Dominic, I barked, “Find out where she’s gone. Use every resource at your disposal.”

For the next hour, I drove relentlessly through werewolf territory, my senses straining to pick up any trace of her scent. I visited every meaningful place we’d shared—the park where I first kissed her, the cozy restaurant where I had proposed our mating, the moonlit lake where we had performed our bonding ceremony. But no matter how hard I searched, there was no sign of her. It was as if she had simply evaporated.

The door clicked softly as he left, and the sudden silence felt suffocating. I had spent years meticulously planning this revenge, dismantling the Silverstone family piece by piece. Watching Kira suffer was supposed to be the ultimate victory. So why did the taste of triumph feel so bitter, so hollow?

What the hell is wrong with me? I should be celebrating. Kira was broken. Her father was comatose. She had lost everything—her home, her status, her future. Exactly what I had wanted.

Yet, it wasn’t enough. Something inside me still felt unfinished, unsatisfied. The beast within craved more.

I closed my eyes, trying to summon Lyra’s face to fuel the hatred that had driven me for so long. But instead, I saw Kira—her smile shining up at me on our bonding night, her laughter echoing in the garden, her new haircut framing a face that was both fragile and stronger than ever before.

I hate her. I have to hate her.

I slammed my fist into the mattress, the sharp impact a release of the turmoil inside. Sentiment was weakness. These thoughts were poison. I would not allow myself to be softened by memories or what-ifs. I would find Kira, and when I did, she would learn that walking away from me was never an option.

The punishment I had planned for her was only just beginning.
