Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 149

I kept my gaze locked on the digital timer glowing on the table between us, its numbers ticking down relentlessly. Only fifteen minutes remained before Ethan’s incriminating videos would be broadcast to every Alpha whose pack members appeared in his collection. The atmosphere in the interrogation room was thick with tension, almost suffocating—the fear radiating from Ethan was tangible, hanging in the air like the scent of a hunted animal.

Ethan’s eyes flickered nervously between the timer and the USB drive that held the damning evidence of his crimes. Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead despite the chilly air conditioning in the room. Over the last forty-five minutes, his breathing had grown uneven, quickening as he wrestled with the impossible choices before him.

What would be worse? Facing the merciless wrath of Red Mask, or becoming the most hunted wolf across all of North America?

I kept my expression unreadable, cold and detached on the surface, though inside I was counting every precious second. We needed the information he had. My father needed it. And more than that, all those test subjects depended on it.

“Ten minutes,” I announced flatly, my voice void of any sympathy or hesitation.

Ethan’s posture shifted subtly—a slight droop of his shoulders, his eyes dropping to the floor. I recognized the signs clearly. He was starting to crack.

“Stop!” The word burst out from him suddenly, raw and desperate. His chest heaved as he struggled to catch his breath. “Stop the timer. I’ll tell you what I know.” His bloodshot eyes locked onto mine, haunted and pleading. “But you have to promise those videos won’t be made public.”

Slowly, deliberately, I reached out and pressed the pause button on the timer. I let the silence stretch for a few more seconds, letting his desperation simmer. Got you, you piece of shit.

“I’m listening,” I said, flipping on the recording device tucked away in my pocket. My voice remained steady, even though anticipation surged through me like electricity. “But understand this—if I catch even a hint of deception, those videos go out immediately.”

Behind the one-way glass, Andy stood silently, observing us with focused intensity. I could almost feel his sharp gaze dissecting every word, every flicker of emotion on Ethan’s face.

Ethan licked his dry, cracked lips, his eyes still fixed on the USB drive as if willing it to disappear.

“I’ve never seen Red Mask’s true face,” he began in a barely audible whisper. “Since the day I joined the organization, she’s never once taken off that mask.”
