Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 153

Kira’s Perspective

I gazed intently at the holographic map hovering above the table, my fingers gently tracing the contours of Moonstone Cave’s digital landscape. The soft blue glow cast eerie shadows across the determined faces of my team—Andy, Rebecca, Mason, and Jennifer—each absorbed in the gravity of the mission ahead. The tension was palpable, etched deeply into the furrows around their eyes and the tightness of their jaws.

Jennifer broke the silence, her voice steady as she manipulated the 3D projection, zooming in on the cave’s central chamber. “Based on Ethan’s intel, this is where the ritual is set to take place.” The hologram spun slowly, revealing a complex web of tunnels and chambers that made up the cave’s labyrinthine interior.

Leaning closer, I studied the layout with a critical eye. “We have only three days until the full moon strikes midnight,” I reminded them, pointing firmly at the heart of the map. “Our plan has to be flawless—every detail accounted for, every move precise.”

A heavy silence settled over the room, the weight of our task pressing down on us all. Grim expressions hardened our faces as we absorbed the enormity of what lay ahead.

Mason nodded, expanding the scan to include the surrounding terrain. “Moonstone Cave sits at the crossroads of three wolf pack territories. It’s neutral ground, which makes it strategically significant.”

He highlighted the cave’s three entrances. “The main entrance faces south, but there are two more discreet side entrances on the east and west sides.”

My gaze locked onto the central chamber—a roughly circular space where the hologram indicated a higher ceiling and a smoother floor than the rest of the cave system. Something about it stirred a faint memory deep within me.

“From what I learned at Rocco’s estate, the lunar energy is strongest at the cave’s center,” I said softly, tapping into fragments of my past life as a werewolf.

Rebecca pointed to several spots around the cave’s perimeter. “Our intelligence suggests the Triads have set up lookout positions here, here, and here. They’ll have the entire area under surveillance.”

Jennifer brought up a roster on her tablet. “In terms of manpower, we’re outnumbered. We have twelve operatives total—four werewolves, including Andy, and eight highly trained humans.”

I added, my stomach tightening at the odds, “The Triads are likely deploying at least twenty guards, most of them Beta-level werewolves.”

Andy’s face darkened with resolve. “We’re outnumbered and they have the home-field advantage. We’ll have to rely on strategy and surprise, not brute force.”

I nodded, then addressed the unspoken danger lingering in the room. “And don’t forget Red Mask herself. She possesses unusual abilities and could be a powerful Alpha.”

The atmosphere grew heavier at the mention of her name. We had all seen the footage, heard Ethan’s testimony. Whatever—or whoever—Red Mask was, she posed a threat far beyond the ordinary.

Rebecca broke the silence, pulling up a tactical overlay on the map. “I propose we split into three teams: the strike team, the blocking team, and the core action team.”

She outlined the plan. “The strike team will create chaos around the perimeter to draw guards away. The blocking team will secure the entrances to prevent reinforcements. The core team will penetrate the central chamber and stop the ritual.”

I absorbed the strategy, running through possible scenarios in my mind. “I need to be on the core team,” I said firmly. “Whatever Red Mask is planning, I have to be there to stop her personally.”

Andy’s eyes met mine across the table. “I’ll go with you to the central chamber. My wolf form will give us an edge in close combat.”

A flutter stirred in my chest at his words, memories of last night’s kiss rising unbidden before I pushed them away. Now was not the time.
