Chapter 44
I could hardly believe the words that had just left his mouth. “Are you serious? After everything—after Kim, after the divorce—you’re jealous?” My voice trembled with disbelief, the shock making my heart pound even harder.
His jaw clenched tightly, his expression darkening. “Come with me,” he ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“No.” I instinctively stepped back, my body tense. “I signed the papers. I agreed to your terms. You don’t have any right—”
Before I could finish, he moved with alarming speed, grabbing my upper arm with a grip so firm it made me wince. “I have every right. You’re still mine.”
“I’m not yours,” I hissed, trying to pull away, but he was already dragging me toward the door.

Minutes later, we found ourselves inside a lavish hotel suite—undoubtedly one of the many properties owned by the Blackwood family. The room was spacious, decorated with elegant furnishings and soft lighting that cast a warm glow, but none of it comforted me. I struggled to break free as he steered me through the living area and toward the bathroom.
“Rocco, what are you doing?” My heart pounded wildly in my chest as a sinking realization hit me. “No. Not this again.”
He paid no attention to my protests. Flicking on the bathroom light, he turned the shower on full blast, the cold water roaring to life. The sound alone made my stomach churn.
“Rocco Blackwood!” I shouted, twisting to escape his grasp, but he spun me around, his large hands suddenly cupping my face with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. “Kira,” he said, his voice dangerously low, “didn’t I warn you not to let any wolf near you?”
A sharp memory flashed through my mind—standing shivering under freezing water until dawn because another wolf had steadied me after I stumbled at a pack gathering. Rocco’s jealousy and possessiveness had always been extreme, but back then, I had mistaken it for love and devotion.
I remembered our first moon ceremony, when he made me swear three promises: never to seek another mate, never to accept the scent of another wolf on me, and never to leave the pack. From the very beginning, he had been controlling—he had even driven an entire family out of our territory just because their son had dared to look at me for too long.
And despite all that, I had loved him. So deeply that I gave up a prestigious medical research opportunity just to be his Luna. How foolish I had been.
