Chapter 14
Ayla felt heartbroken when she saw Willow crying like that.
She still wore the clothes splashed in the bathroom just now. Walking up to the bed, she bent over to comfort
Willow.
Ayla was not aware of her wet clothes at all. All her attention seemed to have been drawn by her crying daughter
Looking at Willow, Ayla felt extremely distressed and gently comforted her, “Willow, be a good girl and stop crying. Okay? Yesterday, the healer told you to keep your spirit up. Remember?”
Willow didn’t want to hear that. She constantly shook her head and insisted on Lucian staying.
She grabbed Lucian’s sleeve with her tender hand, swaying it, and pitifully pleaded, “Daddy, is it okay for you to stay?”
Lucian, who always met every need from Willow, did not respond this time.
Ayla’s eyes dimmed when she saw this scene.
Suddenly, she forcefully pulled Willow into her arms and forced her lips into a smile at Lucian. “Lucian, leave her alone. She will be fine after a while. It’s getting late, and you should go back and rest.”
Leaving Lucian’s embrace, Willow cried even harder.
She looked at Lucian pitifully with tears full of her eyes, as if she had been abandoned. She begged softly, “Daddy, just for one night, please!”
Willow cried convulsively, appearing extremely pitiful. She had just recovered from the pox and needed to recuperate well. It was no good for her to be overly emotional. In the end, Lucian had to agree to stay with her for the night.***
I received a call from Ayla early in the morning, who invited me to The Moonlit Brew.
I did not refuse.
As we agreed, I arrived on time.
As soon as I entered the Moonlit Brew, Ayla, with a bright smile, beckoned to me and greeted as if we were some old friends, “Hi, Seren, I am here.”
It was like she hadn’t been slapped by me at the Pack’s infirmary a few days ago.
Ayla was always good at pretending. I would rather call her the most cunning wolf in the pack. Probably she might get along well with the foxes.
I walked over to her calmly and composedly.
Just as we sat down, Ayla’s harsh words came in my ear, “Seren, I’ve ordered a cup of Lunar Blend coffee for you. You need it to refresh yourself, as your life is so hard…”
“Get down to the business,” I interrupted Ayla with a cold tone.
I didn’t come here for some bullshit.
Ayla was not annoyed. She smiled lightly and grabbed a shopping bag from the seat next to hers.
