Chapter 102
She nods, fiddling with her fingers. Again. Her gaze lowers, “Forgive me, but I only say this because I worry and care, but she’s been unusual.”
“Unusual how?” I ask, the words coming out so fast I nearly bite my tongue.
She shrugs, “I don’t know how to explain it, but she’s different.”
Oh good.
It isn’t in my head, even Lexie noticed.
Audrey scoffs, “For crying out, girl. Be straight with your words.” She heavily sighs. “How is Aeliana different?”
“Well, she’s sent me away a number of times, and I tried to keep her company.”
“That’s it?” Audrey snorts out a laugh.
Lexie swallows, her gaze low. “Well-”
“She’s bored of playing nice with you, your Luna doesn’t like playing with lesser folks.” She tells her, “She’s in one of her moods again, she’ll come around when she feels like playing nice girl again.”
“Oh,” Lexie looks up, looking somewhat relieved. “I thought she was maybe sick.”
Audrey tsks, “Oh you poor thing, you got hopes up, what a shame. Don’t worry, she might begin to stand you again.”
“No,” I shake my head. Neither of their assumptions adds up. “That’s not it, she rather enjoys Lexie’s company. She’s easily her favourite person in the house.”
“Kingston, this is Aeliana.” She chokes out a laugh. “Favourites are only chosen to work for her, she must have dropped the girl after seeing that playing nice wasn’t really getting her anywhere, she must be frustrated. She used to do this same thing in high school, no wonder she had no friends. It’s nothing new on her end.”
“She’s upset with me,” I say. “It has nothing to do with you, Lexie.”
“What for?” Audrey frowns. “You were gracious enough to even let her bring that man into the house.”
That’s the exact fucking problem.
That man. And my fucking caveman jealous outburst, it has to be. But I can change that, I’ll try. I’ll take a hundred smartass remarks and disguised insults over this silence that she has forced herself into. “Lexie,” I call out, staring at the grandfather clock on the wall.
“Yes, Alpha?”
“Do me a favour by telling your Luna to be ready by seven, we have a dinner invitation and we must both attend. And see Lady Danielle, ask her to give you a few contacts for clothing stores in case Aeliana wants to buy something.”
She nods, “Right away, Alpha.” She says, walking away. I swear I see her smile a little when I tell her to call Aeliana.
“You have plans?”
“Yes,” I nod. Plans that I wasn’t going to entertain for the life of me, but I need to get Aeliana out of her room it’s

been three fucking days since she left the house. That, and I want her to eat, I can’t force food down her throat here but in a restaurant, at a table filled with people, she will have to eat. “With Finn,” I tell her.
“Oh, those dinners,” she nods to herself. “And you’re taking Aeliana? I know you have to now because she’s your wife, but you heard the maid. She is in a mood? What if she offends your friends?”
“She won’t,” I confidently tell her. I haven’t seen her offend a single stranger, or a familiar face that wasn’t Audrey or me. “I think the air will do her some good. She’s been cooped up in the house for too long.”
A few hours later, Aeliana meets me outside the restaurant. She insisted that I go ahead of her because someone was taking too long with her dress. I was going to pick the darn thing up myself, scared that if I didn’t leave the house with her, she might not want to come out at all.
I must have moved up the lucky man list because she shows up, drop-dead gorgeous in her emerald green dress that hugs her body like it was tailored to her soul.
Her hair is tied up above her head but some parts fall free in front of her face, curled and shaping her face perfectly. She looks stunning. I am in awe, the same way I was when I saw her in her wedding dress, she’s never looked prettier in white. All she was missing was her halo.
She looks at me, nodding towards the door. “Well? Are we going in?”
“You look beautiful,” I tell her, staring like she might fade away in a moment.
She frowns, “I am. It’s not a rare occurrence.”
“That was a compliment.”
“Work on them,” she softly says. “It wasn’t a good one.
I nod. “This way.”
She waits for me to start walking before she does, following closely behind me. I lead her inside. Finn, Leon, and Dave are already at the table, with their wives. Only Zachary is yet to arrive. Finn whistles the moment he sees Aeliana and me. I see the shock on Leon’s face when he sees that I’m here despite having cancelled yesterday.
