Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101

I’m only just arriving from picking up Audrey and Danielle from their date as they called it, but I call it spending my and Rowan’s money on hairstyles that they’ll be over and done with within a week. I don’t understand why they never go to Audrey’s salon, or why I haven’t seen Aeliana leave the house to do her hair, and yet it always looks beautiful, shiny, and altogether perfect.

I stop wondering about her when I see her maid sulking in the corner, sitting by the stairs with a pair of scissors in her hand, staring straight at the wall. “What happened to her, isn’t she Luna Aeliana’s personal maid?”

I nod, although Lexie helps a ton around the house, her duties mainly include catering to her Luna. She looks wrecked, almost like Aeliana did a few days ago. “Did she get scolded? This girl is always cheerful.” Audrey says.

Scolded?

I doubt it, Aeliana and the girl treat each other like baby ducks, plus, i dont think she would scold her, at least not harshly by her mood lately.

“I’ll show Row my hair,” Danielle says, jogging up the stairs.

Lexie looks distraught, and Aeliana has given up talking. So much is going on here. “I’ll tell her,” I tell Audrey.

“What? No,” Audrey whispers, “You can’t get involved with the personal emotions of every worker, King.”

Not every worker, her. The one who always knows what my wife is up to. “Lexie,” I call to her. She doesn’t answer the first time so I try again, louder. “Lexie.”

That one gets through to her, startles her. She quickly gets on her feet, eyes wide, and hands smoothing over her uniform. Great, I scared the girl, the last thing I need is for Aeliana to scold me for doing that. She warned the kitchen staff against bothering her already, and I might be next.

“Yes, Alpha.” She swallows. “I was just-”

“Where is your Luna?” I ask, “Should you not be preparing her dinner?

Her eyes widen, shocked that I know her schedule or more accurately Aeliana’s. She’s become predictable. I hate that, I thought I wanted it but it’s not her. Something isn’t right. “Yes, but she doesn’t want dinner, she told me to rest. She’s in her room.”

I nod. “How long has she been in there?”

“All day, Alpha.” She says, her face falling again, it’s the same look she had sitting down. “She has been in there ever since she returned from bidding her friend farewell.”

Her friend, the professor.

I invited him for dinner last night so she wouldn’t have to meet him alone, and today, he left, his flight was at nine, which is seven hours ago, which means she has been cooped up in her room again. I think I liked it better when she was out in the sun, at least then I could pop in to see her. “And lunch?”

Lexie nods, “She had lunch with Beta, and Dr Maddox.” She tells me, but that devastated looks come back and she sucks im a breath. “But there’s something about Luna Aeliana,” she says, her gaze lifting to mine. I wait for her to finish but she doesn’t, her mouth just hangs open. This is the first maid to be scared of me, and now I’m really worried about Aeliana’s reaction, she will think I did something.

“What? Spill it,” I tell her, my voice coming out harsher than intended.
