Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 121

Chapter 121

LUNA ESTELLE

Loud vibrations stir me awake, I take a glance at the clock before I decide to answer. It’s nearly midnight, but the phone starts buzzing again even after the first call dies out. I reach for the cell to see who is calling, it’s my son. Not the usual son who bothers me at this hour, but the one who doesn’t need his Mama anymore.

I sit upright, if Kingston is calling then something must be happening, something of significance. “Kingston?” I clear my throat.

“Hi Mom, did I wake you?”

“Not really,” I slip out of bed, not wanting to wake his father too. “What’s up, baby?”

“Aeliana and I are coming over,” he says. “We need to talk to you.”

Again, I have to double-check the time. “Right now?”

“Yes Mom,” he says. “It’s important.”

“Okay, baby. I’ll be waiting.”

“Thanks.”

That’s all he says, and the line goes dead. When I return to bed, my husband is awake, eyes wide, and staring at the doorway. “Where did you go, Mrs Vale?”

“Kingston called,” I sigh, settling beside him. He will be here in nearly two hours, so we have more than enough time to go to sleep and wake up again. “He said he was coming over.”

Dante scoffs, “At this hour? What happened to the boy?”

“I don’t know, but I think he’s fine. All he said was that he would be bringing Aeliana too, and it’s important.”

“If it’s about the possibility of them parting ways after the inaugural ceremony, then I swear to the goddess and every God out there, I will punch your son, Estelle.”

I roll my eyes, “He won’t ask again, he was a bit anxious those days.”

“So what do you think your son wants?”

I shrug.

As I said, all I know is that whatever it is, it is important, and requires them both to be here. Could it be….

No, it’s too soon, but the goddess does grant miracles, Aeliana’s bond with Kingston was proof to me. That and the many wonderful gifts she has given me over the years, namely out of my womb and what those who came out of my womb brought back home. “Dante,” I trail off. “Do you think maybe this news is an extension of the family?”

“What?”

“A child,” I tell him. “Could she be pregnant, or is it too soon?”

He smiles, “There is no such thing as too soon, we had ours almost every year, my love.”

“If she is pregnant, maybe they’re coming over to tell us so that we can celebrate before the inauguration. Ooh,

wouldn’t that be incredible, Dante?” I smile, already picturing my daughter-in-law with child.

I know it’s soon, but from the gossip I’ve heard, they’re trying very hard for an heir or simply enjoying themselves after so much time apart, but wouldn’t that be wonderful?

The girl would be a wonderful mother, she would be everything she wanted in a Mom. She has that quiet strength and patience it takes. She’s also proven she can handle chaos, so a litter would be safe in her hands. I really do have immense admiration for the girl, I like knowing how safe Mooncrest is in her hands, there’s no one better. She is going to lead a pack that still gossips about her, and not once has she complained, or unjustly punished anyone for speaking ill of her.
