Chapter 129
Mom appears beside me, wearing her overalls. The woman won’t lift a finger in her home but she’s painting here? I’ll never understand this about her.
“I see you brought guests,” I tell her.
She shrugs, “I went over to check on her but she had company so I invited them both. It’s about time she met the other woman in your life.” She says, she always refers to the foundation as my other woman because I take care of it even when I don’t show up. “The justifiable one, one she can make peace with.”
I ignore what she’s trying to get at and focus on Aeliana. Zuri crawls into her lap and she continues with her book, there are no more disruptions from the kids. “She’s good with them.” I tell her, “Doesn’t it take four to six adults to wrangle those little monsters?”
“Sure does,” Mom laughs. “But there’s something about your wife, children are often good at sensing these things and they see what we don’t.” She gently explains. “They trust her, that doesn’t happen often. Hell, I don’t think they trust me either, but look at them…” she trails off on an unspoken thought, “And that one isn’t so bad either, I was prepared for Audrey 2.0 when she screamed after a little girl touched her, but she simply found her crowd.”
My gaze mirrors hers, landing on Noah. Noah is sitting cross-legged on the ground too. However, unlike Aeliana, she is on a picnic blanket and is showing the teen girls something on her phone. Knowing her, it is probably inappropriate in a way but the girls are laughing and leaning in attentively, they seem to be completely under her spell.
This isn’t what I expected to find here today but it fills me with such joy to see this side of them both. Although I went out of my way and wronged them both trying to bring them together, I have a feeling Noah will have a permanent spot in our lives. She seems to love Mooncrest, and Aeliana. Seeing how happy Aeliana is around her takes away the fraction of regret that I had from the other night.
Mom nudges my arm, and I shift back to watching Aeliana. “Has she always been this good with kids?”
“Yes,” I nod. She would often babysit the pups at gatherings or parties Pandora organised and she hardly got paid
her worth.
“You should have told me, I can finally stop wondering what type of mom she would be.”
“Mom,” I warn.
“Come on, just look at her with the litter, she’s going to be a good mom. Do you not think so?”
And just like that, I’m picturing my wife pregnant, I can vividly see the way her stomach swells with each passing day, I can see her rocking our babies in her favourite place in the house-the garden. More babies just keep appearing and even after four pups, I can see her stomach swell again.
Fuck, I walk away from my Mom. She is planting ideas in my head that have my cock straining against my pants, and compel me with need to snatch Aeliana away from the little terrors so we can get started on our first pup.
“Kingston! It was just a question!” My mom calls out, coming after me.
I pause in my tracks, she’s yelling my name a bit too loudly, and everyone can hear, including Aeliana who didn’t see me. Aeliana’s eyes meet mine and I lose the ability to speak. She looks away when Calen taps her book and
smiles.
Gods, I need help.

I haven’t thought about kids because I’ve been caught up in her staying, in us being a real couple, or at the very least having a marriage half as decent as any fated couple. Unfortunately, I keep lucking out.
She’ll never see us as anything more than a mistake, a punishment, something that stole her life. I’m prepared to offer any God under and above the sun ten years off my life if they have some advice for me, anything that gets me out of the toxic repetitive cycle that Aeliana and I keep falling into.
“Did I say something, wrong son?” Mom asks, arms crossed over her chest. “Sooner or later, you will have to produce an heir, and some extras for me.”
“Mom, children are not accessories.” I tell her, “Aeliana and I haven’t discussed that, what if she doesn’t want any?”
“She does,” she confidently tells me. “She’s a natural, and it’ll help her inner child if she mothers someone how she wanted to be mothered.”
I shake my head, she wouldn’t exactly want that. I love children, my nephews are the apple of my eye and the same goes for the kids here, I love how pure and innocent the minds and hearts of children are but I can’t impose my love for them onto Aeliana. “Not every woman wants children, Luna Estelle, and not everyone can have them.”
She pauses, “Oh, goodness. I didn’t think of that, do you….” She trails off, looking around for listening ears. When satisfied with the surroundings, she speaks again. “Do you have any problems? I mean, can you—”
That does it, my dick is dead now. “This topic is just as weird as it was when your husband tried to…wait,” I frown, her words finally hitting me. “Why would you assume that I’m the one with the problem, mom?”
“Is it Aeliana?” She whispers, her gaze momentarily shifting to where I know Aeliana is sitting. “I thought Pandora had tests done on her, no problem was found.”
“No, the problem is no one. We are both fine,” I tell her. “And why the hell were you having Mrs Hartley perform tests on her?”
“She did it of her own free will from what I know of, and forget that, now that I know you’re both capable of reproducing, when am I getting that grandbaby?”
