“I’m not,” she snorts out a laugh. “I like it here, and Alpha Kingston actually came to see me before my class, and he confessed, as well as apologised.” She smiles, “I understand his method was wrong, but the intention behind it was so pure.”

“He doesn’t care what he does as long as he gets his way, and he went too far when he started digging into my life and used you.”

She waves me off, “Please, I am honoured to be used for such a purpose. The only time I was surprise for someone was when my mom died, and my stepmom found out Dad was fucking a human lass.” She smiles, making fun of her trauma like always. “Alpha Kingston really cares about you, you know?”

“Yeah,” I nod. “He cares about everyone. But there’s always going to be one person who tops that list but I don’t care.”

“I doubt that,” she shakes her head. “The man I see around you and the one you often talk about seem so different to me. Honestly, I think all your problems would be solved if that little blonde dick hopper didn’t exist.”

“My Noah,” I gasp.

“No, seriously, my Ellie.” She huffs, seemingly riled up already. “Did you not see how she immediately wanted a gift after he bought you one? She was trying to get on your nerves.

“She always is,” I say with an eyeroll. “And when I react? I’m a monster, I become the girl who bullied her, and never stopped. She gets to the docile lamb that he must protect.” I swallow, the injustice makes my stomach coil. I’ve never once bullied anyone, not intentionally or ever. “That’s why I’m done with her, I’m not going to be reacting anymore.”

Noah leans in further, “Do you want me to kill her? It’ll make us even.” She says, her eyes twinkling with a concerningexcitement.

I sigh, “My honey.”

“Kidding,” she nervously laughs. But I doubt she was, she has been hang up on killing someone for me for so long, she once choked the dean of education at RU for giving someone my parking space. “Okay, not fully.” She confesses, “But you need to get rid of that bitch, set boundaries. Tell him you don’t want him near her, tell him how you feel about things and if he doesn’t do what you ask?” She trails off, her lips twitching with yet another smile. “I’m going to kill him too, and we can find you a nice new husband.”

“Doubt it,” I frown. “I don’t think I could ever open my heart to anyone else, I didn’t realise it before, but he seems to have never given me back the key.”

Noah gasps, eyes widening. “Does this mean you opened your heart again?”

My lips part but I pause when I see Tiger coming to our table with our order. He sets the tray down carefully, and next to it, a few papers. “Here’s your wine, bourbon, and membership applications. If you need anything else, please feel free to call me. There’s a button under your table that alerts me.”

“Thank you,” Noah smiles at him, instantly grabbing the documents on the table.

I grab my glass, watching Noah read through the first agreement. Her words stick to me, would Kingston really set boundaries if I asked him? I know it wouldn’t erase her from his heart, but it would make me feel better, I’d stop hurting every time I see her next to him.
