Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132

“The place looks great,” Noah says.

“See, even she likes it,” I beam. “And she’s the pickiest bitch alive.”

“True,” Noah nods. “Your club has potential, it feels like I’m wrapped in warmth and I haven’t had liquor yet.

Damien smiles, “I like her, drinks on the house.” He says, rising.

I tug on his shirt, and he sits down again. “No, this is why you’re not doing well. You can’t be offering free liquor because you like the customer’s vibe.”

“I’m a pretty customer,” Noah frowns.

“Not even the pretty ones,” I tell Damien. “I have a membership card, let’s charge that, there’s already a discount there.”

“As you wish Luna Aeliana,” he smiles. “What would you like the usual?”

I shake my head, “No, give me bourbon.”

“And I’ll take your finest red wine,” Noah says cheerfully. “Plus one of each of your standard membership applications.”

Damien’s lips curve into a wide grin. “You should bring your friends over more often, A.”

“I would,” I give him a small smile. “But you two are already here so…’

He sighs, shaking his head and slapping a hand on my shoulder. “Hang in there kid.” He says, walking away with

a smile.

When he is out of earshot, Noah leans in close. “So, does D know you have a husband?” She frowns, “One who runs the land you’re both on? Because umm, you seem to have forgotten you have a very jealous husband.” She tells me. “Seriously, that man looks as if he is about to kill whoever looks at you.”

“Oh, it’s not like that.” I laugh, finally grasping that my relationship with Damrn can come off somewhat misleading. “Damien is Kingston’s younger brother. They’re a year apart, and does it really come off as something more than friends?”

Noah shrugs, “You seem comfortable around him, you’re often tense around men, but it makes sense now.”

“He’s great,” I smile. “That, and we both can’t stand his overly perfect brother.”

“Speaking of your husband,” she drawls, tapping her fingers on the table. “That was a thoughtful gift wasn’t it?”

“Yeah,” I nod. He caught me by surprise there, even more so when I saw the paints. I’ll probably never use the set, but it was a thoughtful gift, despite the messy circumstances that prompted it.

Her head tilts, “He seems to be trying, My Ellie.”

Trying?

I don’t know if that’s what I would call gifting me low-grade paints after manipulating several people, including me, just so he could convince himself he did a good deed.

Noah raises an eyebrow at me when she notices my silence. With a heavy sigh, I speak. “The paints were an attempt to make up for a mistake he made, but it’s not that simple, he shouldn’t have done what he did.”

“And what did he do?”

“I can’t say,” I swallow. I tell Noah about as much as I would in a diary if I had one, with extra caution about someone ever finding it. “But he interfered with an integral part of my life.”

“He’s your husband now,” she shakes her head. “As much as I dislike the motherfucker, I believe he didn’t mean any harm.” She says, her words shocking me. Noah hasn’t said any nice thing about Kingston that wasn’t connected to his looks, and now she is defending him? “That man literally brought me to you because he thought you needed a friend in the pack.”

I pause, eyes widening. “You know?”

“Yes I do,” she sneers. “I figured it out the second he came to the airport and asked me to see you.”

“How?”

“For starters, no top university wants a rookie professor, and girl my pay?” She gasps, smiling widely. “VU doesn’t pay the head of my department that much.”
