He leaves, this time quicker than before. Everyone bursts out laughing, talking about how cute he is. “Daughter,” Luna Estelle coos.

‘Keep trying,” mom chimes in. “Whatever it is, it’s working. He is utterly smitten with you again, see, I told you that you’d be able to win him over again.”

“My Ellie,” Noah calls out, staring down at my phone. “You have a text from your husband.

“Absolutely unbelievable.” Luna grins, utterly taken with the idea.

Grandkids? Oh please. Like I’d let Pandora anywhere near my child without supervision. I don’t burst their bubble, Maddox has assured me my birth control is foolproof. It’s made to withstand the super sperm Alpha’s seem to be born with, and so far, so good. I’m thriving, nothing is growing inside me, and thank fuck for that. “Daughter, let’s go over the vows one more time,” Luna Estelle urges. “Just to be sure.”

It’s an unexpected request but I nod. I too would like not to fuck up tomorrow. “So, when the high elder calls your name, you will step forward. Kingston will walk to you over coal, and you must stare only at him to keep a calm head.”

“I remember,” I quietly say. “After all the activities, I will need to recite my vows. She claps, so does my mom and Noah. I don’t know why they do when all I did was memorise a few lines and called it a day.

“You’ve got this.” Mom squeals. “Oh, I’m so proud of you baby.”

I don’t know what to say to that, so I simply nod. It’s not long before I’m squeezed into my dress. I love that it’s shorter now and less heavy than it was the first time I tried it on. “All done,” Irina says, fluffing the curls in my hair.

“Already?”

“Yes, Luna.” She nods. “You’re perfect.”

“Alpha Kingston will lose his mind when he sees you,” Noah muses. “I see blue balls in his future.” I gasp at that, and she laughs. “Oh, right. Sorry adults.”

Luna Estelle smiles, “That’s fine, dear. You didn’t lie one bit.” She says, staring at me in the mirror. I just might have the coolest mom-in-law in history, this woman seems to love me, flaws and all, she accepts me.

“We can leave now.” Mom says.

“Do you want to leave with us?” Luna Estelle asks. “We can go in the larger car. I came prepared.”

“Umm, no thanks.” I politely smile. “I’d like to travel with My Noah, and Lexie if that’s okay.”

Luna Estelle doesn’t waste time, she rises, checks herself in the mirror and then turns to my mom. “Pandora, we should get going.” She says, “Only she has the luxury of being late.”

“Alright,” Mom nods. “Travel safe, baby.”

The stylists leave with my Mom and mom in law, leaving me with Noah and Lexie. “Come on, my Noah. Get dressed, you too Lexie, hurry up.”

Lexie’s jaw drops. “I can come?”

“Yes, you’re my best helper,” I tell her. “You must be there, go and get ready.”

“Thank you, Luna.” She grins widely, rushing out the door.”

Noah smiles, “She’s adorable.”

“So adorable,” I confirm.

About an hour later, both Noah and Lexie are done getting ready and we head to the hall, making it early.

I don’t see Kingston when I first arrive, and I’m told I’m not going to see him until it’s time for him to join the ceremony. The hall is packed, every pack member who could fit inside is here, shoulder to shoulder, whispering amongst themselves. The air is a mix of moon-blessed incense and anticipation.
