Chapter 154

He shakes his head, “Umm, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?” I pout.

He shrugs, “It’s just not.”

“It’s because of Aeliana, isn’t it?” I ask, “She is the reason why you don’t want to go out.”

He doesn’t deny it, he simply nods. “Tonight belongs to her, I can’t be seen at another club with you. It would give people the wrong idea. That, and I don’t think she would like that.”

“Okay,” I nod. “So you don’t want to be friends anymore because she forbade you?” I ask, fearing I might have underestimated Aeliana and her newfound influence over him.

“She didn’t forbid me,” he says with a tired smile. “She made a request.

“What request?”

“I can’t say, but I’m honouring it.” He tells me, his tone final. I can’t convince him. His word is everything to him. “Aeliana doesn’t always have good days, and I hate being the one taking them away.”

“How?” I frown. “You do nothing.””

“And somehow it’s too much.”

“King, you are letting her manipulate you.”

“I’d be grateful, but she isn’t doing anything of that nature.”

Has the Squeak learned some dark magic that she is now using to control him? This is unbelievable, it doesn’t make any sense. I shake my head, my scalp suddenly itching. “I’m too sober for your delusion,” I groan. “You are getting toyed with, letting her get in your head, letting her control you like…I just… I think I should go home.” I swallow, turning away.

He grabs my wrist and I almost smile. “You should stay.” He says.

“Why?” I frown, my gaze low. “This is her night.”

“It is,” he nods. “But it’s mine too. Everyone should have a good night.”

“I’ll head out,” I sulk. “Goodnight.”

This time, he lets me leave. He doesn’t bother to persuade me, and when I turn to look back at him, I find him laughing with Maddox, completely uninterested in me.

Kingston has never said no to me, never tried to not coax me when I was upset, and yet today, he denied me twice, and it’s all her fault. It’s Aeliana’s fault, and I’m going to get even, she will never manipulate him again.
