Chapter 179
“Aeliana can order them to stop anytime, and they would,” he explains. “You shouldn’t have stabbed someone, for fucks sake, use your hands if you’re going to injure someone.”
“She’s human,” I say with an eyeroll. “That’s the best she can do.”
Her eyes shift to mine, blazing with fury. “Would you like to test that theory?” she asks, an eyebrow raised. “I’ll be kind enough to wait until the nose job my Aeliana gave you heals. And as for the stabbing..” she sighs, staring Gemma up and down, disdain clear in her gaze. “It was an automated response.”
“Your automated response was to stab someone?” Rowan asks, repeating the words as if they don’t make sense, and they certainly don’t, not to me anyway. However, Noah nods, blinking innocently at him.
Danielle tsks beside me, “Something isn’t right with the girl.”
I nod, “Probably a druggie like her friend.” I say, something that was meant to be an inner thought, but it slips
out.
“Audrey,” she gasps, pulling my arm closer to her. “You can’t say things like that.”
“They are true.”
“The next time you stab someone, they’ll rip your throat out,” Rowan tells Noah. “And I won’t be around to fix that. You got lucky today, but you need to stop and think before you act, do you hear me? Noah, is that clear?”
She doesn’t answer, but when he clears his throat, she sighs. “Yes, sidekick.” She rolls her eyes, “I heard you the first fifty times.
“Noah.” Rowan coos, sounding defeated.
“I’m sorry.” She grumbles.
Rowan nods to Gemma. “Apologie to her.”
“To her?” Noah frowns, “No, thank you. I’m not in the least bit apologetic towards her. I may be sorry, but I’m only sorry because I made you feel the need to yell at me,” she says. “For which I forgive you, no formal apologies necessary.” She smiles, blinking at him flirtatiously. “But I’m not sorry that I stabbed her, if anything, she should be apologising to me. I mean, it’s her fault that I’m being scolded.”
“Are you -you-” Rowan stutters. “God, you’re…I-”
“Speechless?” she laughs, batting her perfect lashes at him. “Hmm, how cute.’
I turn towards Danielle, who is watching too. “That’s alarming.”
“What?” She frowns, ever so clueless these days.
“Noah,” I tell her. “She’s flirting with Rowan.”
She sneers, “She’s like that with everyone, unfortunately.”
“Watch out for her,” I warn. “She’s a slithering little snake just like her friend.”
“Audrey,” Danielle sighs. “Baby, it’s not Aeliana’s fault she was mated to Kingston, her dad forced her here for Sera’s wedding, and she didn’t even know of the bond yet.”
“Of course not,” I groan, chewing on the inside of my cheek. Danielle used to take my word for everything, and

now just like Kingston, she too is favouring Aeliana. “That’s the one mistake the moon goddess made, but it doesn’t excuse her behaviour. She attacked me after having her maid push me off the edge, then played the victim after embarrassing me just to get his attention.”
Danielle hums in approval, “Honestly, she did go a tad too far asking you to kneel for her maid.”
Even though she is agreeing with me, my attention shifts to where I see Rowan walking behind the brat. “Rowan, where are you going?”
“Walking Noah to her car,” he tells me. “She’s needed at the university.”
“I swear I did not have that class,” she says. “Arnold was covering it.”
“You need to pay more attention to your job,” he says, his tone stern and final. She doesn’t say anything else, Rowan walks her out, scolding her on responsibility and habits.
“That’s exhausting,” I sigh.
Clueless yet again, Danielle scowls. “Hmm?”
“For Rowan,” I say, almost rolling my eyes. “He has been reduced to a babysitter all because Aeliana wanted a friend to keep company on her alcoholic sprees.” I sigh, topping my words with a heavy sigh. Danielle goes quiet, staring into space as she does on the rare occasion that something bothers her. “Is something wrong, Dani?”
“Yes,” she slowly nods. “Rowan is always up and about handling that girl, and her messes, he barely rests these days.”
“Best hope he is simply handling her affairs, and nothing more.” I muse, fighting back a smile. It’s enough that I deal with Aeliana, I don’t want the brat here too, and Danielle is just the person to help me get rid of her. But this is for her too, that girl can take Rowan from her with ease, she’s stunning.
“He wouldn’t,” she says with a bitter laugh. “Rowan is my best friend, Audrey, he tells me everything, down to the number of dumps he took in a day.”
Gross.
“Just saying, be careful.”
“She’s a child,” she scoffs, her tone rising with a cracking pitch. “Rowan isn’t attracted to childish women, and you’ll be surprised to know that he doesn’t even notice when she’s flirting with him.”
I nod. “Spending time together is a one-way ticket to exactly where lines can’t cross, just look at Kingston and Aeliana, he started to pay attention to her after being forced together.”
“They have a mate bond, and he likes her, no?” She frowns, now attacking me. “From what Rowan told me, they were each other’s first kiss, and he threatened every boy who tried to flirt with her.”
“In a way,” I swallow. I know of the disturbing relationship they once shared, I was there, and I don’t need a reminder.
Danielle smirks, “Well, you see, for Kingston, those feelings were always there, but Rowan just met the girl, he has no interest in her beyond averting chaos. He is only with her because he seems to be the only person she listens to.”
