Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 186

Chapter 186

“The flowers come with it, pretty sweet.” He smiles, still giving me nothing. I know they’re car keys, but I don’t understand. “Let me show you.” He says, moving before I ask him to clarify.

He leads me outside, to the parking lot. The first thing that catches my eye is the luxury sports car parked right in the middle. It’s a brand new car, with a huge red bow on top, it looks very much similar to Kingston’s car that I crushed, but in a smooth matte black. That car was sent back to the company and won’t be repaired for another two months. “Did he get a new one?”

Damien shrugs, nodding at my hand. “Pretty sure you have the keys, not him.”

My heart stops, “What?” I choke out, eyes shifting between him and the car.

“It’s yours, A.” He laughs.

Mine?

“You’re kidding.” I almost whisper.

“No, it was supposed to arrive later next week, but it came today, and Kingston wanted you to have it.”

“Wow,” I lowly gasp. I’m short of words, first the flowers and now the car? My hand with the keys is shaking. My car has been in transit for weeks now, and I’ve been giving my card a workout with all the car hires.

I had asked Kingston for one of his cars to use before mine arrived from Clinshore, but he said no. I tried to convince him, but he died on that hill, claiming they were old, and I assumed he was sceptical because of the other car I wrecked, but now? He bought me a car? Not just any simple car, a million-dollar car?!

“Something wrong?” Damien asks, “Is it the colour? I told him you’d prefer a more feminine colour, but he insisted you would want this.”

“No, no.” I shake my head, he was in fact right, “The Color is perfect, I love it, it’s pretty.”

“You should hear her purr.” He says with a proud smile, “Absolute show stopper.”

“Really?” My jaw drops, and I imagine the glint in my eyes. I love fast cars, hanging around Maddox, Rowan, and Kingston instilled a deep appreciation for cars in me. There was a year Kingston wouldn’t shut up about cars, they were an obsession, and I learned everything there was just so I could relate to him.

Damien points to the keys, and I smile. I press the button on the keys and the car unlocks, I don’t wait, I’ve admired it enough from the outside, so I dash into the driver’s seat with my flowers, tossing them in the passenger seat.

There’s a faint scent of new car smell and a load of citrus, the scent I always use in my car.

Damien was right, the engine on this thing is to die for. This is the kind of car I would have saved up for once I began my professorship, it would have been nothing but a motivation, unattainable but it’s here. I love the car, I love the sound it makes, the thought behind it, the man behind the gift, I love it all, but I can’t seem to let that joy overtake me.

“My job here is done,” Damien declares. “Congratulations on the new ride.”

I step out of the car, “Thank you, she’s stunning. I’ll call him now.

“Alright, I’ll get going.” He says, “Haven’t been by the club all week, Alex had been sick, but he’s doing much better, so I can go back to work full-time again.”

“Let me drive you, I’ll just change,” I offer. The club sounds like a good idea, booze and music will surely keep me occupied. “And grab my license.”

“You don’t need a licence.” He snorts, “Hell I don’t have one, and I get by. This town is yours, and the rest within or exceeding a hundred-mile radius. I’m not good at math.”
