Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 211

Chapter 211

“You were sitting in the middle of the road.”

“I hurt my ankle,” I blurt out. “But it’s better now.”

He nods, watching me closely. I avoid eye contact, my eyes must still be red from all the crying but I can pass it off as anything but that. “Do you remember what we spoke of last night?” I nod, I know exactly which night he means. “So, talk to me then.”

“I swear there is nothing to talk about, King. Why don’t we just get into bed, hmm? I’m really cold.” I pout, trying mt very best to shiver. “Can we please move past this? I think I’ve been punished enough tonight with having to sit through that dinner.”

“I’m sorry, Siren. She kept asking, and I couldn’t-”

“It’s fine,” I smile. “Can we just cuddle?”

He joins me in bed, wrapping his arms around me. I snuggle up to him, “How did it go with Vittoria?” I ask, wanting to recount anything but the chaos I had in that room. “Is she okay?”

Kingston sighs, “She was high as a kite, had a fake ID on her, and one of her friends was holding an illegal substance. I convinced them to bury the matter, and dropped them off at their homes.”

“Who else was there?”

“You know Mrs Miller? Yeah, her oldest son was them, that’s who Vittoria snuck into Mooncrest to see.”

I gasp, “Didn’t he go to school with me?”

“Yeah.” He sighs, “He just returned from studying in Blood Moon and they had been talking for months, he was convinced she was twenty-one. He actually alerted the patrol team.”

“And your parents?”

“They were upset,” he pauses. “But not more than seeing Audrey. Mom threw a vase at me in solidarity to you. That makes me smile, “I love your mom.”

“She loves you too, Siren. Apparently, more than me, she was pleased to know that you approved of me riding with Audrey.”

“Nothing happened, right?”

“Nothing ever will.” He says, kissing the top of my head. “That’s not a chapter of my life that I’m keen on revisiting. I’m very happy with you, I would be happier if I didn’t have to lose my mind every time I can’t get ahold of you.”

“I didn’t mean to worry you.”

“I know, baby, but you have to think about me too. I’m scared of losing you, and every time you’re unreachable, I fear that moment has come to pass.” His voice grows softer, quieter. “Don’t run, Aeliana.”

“I don’t see a reason to.”

“Even when you find one, don’t.” He says, his heart racing against my ear. “We’ll talk it out. Promise me that because there’s no problem I can’t solve for you. I’d rather die trying.”

I nod, clinging to him.

He’s wrong.

Some things, he just can’t fix, he can’t change them either and talking might as well ruin us.
