Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 345

“Yeah,” he nods, walking towards the door butt-naked.

I sit up and pull the sheets up to my chest, my heart hammering inside. When Rowan pulls the door open, Danielle walks inside, her eyes immediately meeting mine. Something flickers in her gaze, and she turns towards Rowan, “Oh.” She says, meeting my gaze again. “Hey.”

“Hi?” I whisper, clutching the bedsheets to my chest. “What is it?” She asks, her eyes drifting back to Rowan again. “Did you tell her?”

Tell me what?

Is he finally ending things with me at her request? Fuck.

Even though I wanted this, it makes my chest ache, it nearly brings tears to my eyes again.

He shakes his head, “We should talk.”

Danielle huffs, staring him up and down. “You chose to call me this early? While you’re fucking naked with her?” She sneers, her voice low, calm even. “Rowan, I was seriously worried when you linked me, I thought you got stuck together or something.”

I pause, stuck? That’s why she appeared shocked when she came here? And not the fact that I’m screwing Rowan? “What is happening right now?” I frown, pointing to my door. “And can you please shut my door?”

“What did he do?” She frowns, staring at me. Again, I’m utterly dumbfounded by her calm and the way she ignores that we’re both naked. “You said something stupid, didn’t you? I told you to ease into it.”

“She thinks I’m hiding her.”

“What is happening?” I repeat, “Why are you…you’re being very chill.”

“You’re right,” she sighs, arms crossed over her chest as she turns to me, her expression blank. No anger. No jealousy. Nothing. “I should be screaming and banging my head against the wall because he is with you.”

“Danielle,” he warns.

She doesn't look at him, her eyes stay on me. “I don’t have any more tears in me, I should hate you, Noah.” She swallows. “I really should,” she nods, her face furrowing. “But you’re disgustingly nice to me, and you are not married to me, we are not friends, you don't owe me anything.” She tells me, her tone calm and her expression blank, like she’s just accepted it. “Am I upset you’re fucking my husband? Mildly,” she says with a slight smile. “I was very upset when I scented you on him.”

“Sorry,” I swallow.

“You know what? You’re not secretive about it, the entire house knows.” She swallows, a flicker of emotion passing in her eyes, but I don’t have enough time to decipher it before it fades. “Do you know how hard it was for me to explain to my friends that I’m okay with my husband screwing the woman he’s been pining for?”

“I didn’t call you here to rant,” Rowan frowns, and Danielle rolls her eyes at him. “You’re making her feel bad. This is not her fault.”

“You’re right, it's yours.” She snaps.

“Babe, you know this is beyond me, I tried. Every step of the way, you know.”

She shrugs, “You fostered it, you knew she made you feel weird the day you met her, and you still offered to—”

“Weird?” I blink, was I being too flirty? Initially, it was to mess with him, and it stopped easily, he wasn’t affected, and it took the fun out of it.

“No, not like that.” Rowan hastily shakes his head. “Babe, you’re not helping.”

She nods, “But what do you want me to do? You seem to be in the middle of something, so for the last why did you call me?” She asks, her voice carrying. “Do you need my help sticking it in?”

Rowan hisses, staring at her defeated. “You know what, this is weird, just leave.” I tell them, “Both of you, please just get out, I can’t…”

“I’m supposed to just believe that you’ll protect me over your mate?” I scoff.

“You’re my—I won’t have to because it won’t come to that.” He tells me, “If it did, yes. I’d protect her against you, and you against her.”

A bitter laugh tickles the back of my throat. “Oh, you really think I’m stupid, that’s just disrespectful. You’ve lost all respect for me after sleeping with—”

He kisses me, making me forget the rest of my words. “You really do keep running your mouth don’t you?”

I shrug, heat flushing in my cheeks. He smiles, shifting so now he’s on top of me. “I like that,” he says, grabbing my hips. “You challenge me.”

“What does that mean?”

“You don’t submit to me.”

“And that's attractive?” I frown.

“It is,” he nods. “But the way I submit to you is even hotter.”

I smile, my fingers playing in his hair. It didn’t even occur to me that he was submitting to me, I’m so used to every man I’m with just doing everything I ask, they always give up power to me. “It's normal for me,” I tell him. His mouth crashes onto mine again, kissing me harder, hungrily. I moan into his mouth, feeling him through the very thin sheet between us. He pulls it away, his mouth never leaving mine. “Fuck,” he groans, sinking the tip of his cock inside me. “You’re so tight, Hero.”

I pull away from our kiss, smiling against his lips. “But you’re actually not as submissive as you think.”

“Yeah?” He smirks, “Teach me, Miss Fren.”
