“Alpha Kingston this is not about replacing Luna Aeliana,” Elder Winston sighs. “We are concerned for her. We failed her once, and we are trying not to again. She is our Luna, if she gets the help she needs, you’ll be at peace too.”

“Stop worrying about my mate,” he says, his voice sharp. “She has me.”

My heart swells with pride, I didn’t think I could fall even more in love with him, but I think I just did. “Did she have you when she was self-harming?” Candice asks. My heart skips a beat, the flutters from a moment ago gone now. “Are you aware that she often hurts herself?” She asks, turning towards Doctor Eleanor, I told her everything in confidence, she promised no one would know, and now my dirty laundry is being aired in front of the whole council. “Are you aware of how many times your mate has tried to end her life?” She pauses, her words making the room gasp. “I’m sorry to bring this up, but everything is important now, Alpha Kingston.”

Kingston meets my gaze, his eyes wide with horror. “Aeliana.”

“I didn’t do it.” I shake my head.

“You thought about it,” Doctor Eleanor says.

“Who doesn’t?” I gasp. “Everyone thinks about death.”

Her eyes shift, barely looking at me. “Not the way you do, Luna Aeliana.”

“Wait,” Audrey says, rising. “You’re not supposed to be unravelling her therapy sessions, and psychiatric history.”

“This isn’t history, Warrior.” Elder Xander says. “This is recent.”

“Eleanor?” Kingston swallows, his eyes on me still, so I look away. I can see the questions there, every answer of mine he would absolutely hate.

“Yes, Alpha.” She nods, her gaze low. “Luna Aeliana has mentioned quite a few times how she would end her life if she didn’t have you anymore, and while she’s gotten better, her history warrants further help.”

“I didn't hurt myself,” I gasp, “It was a figure of speech, Doctor Eleanor!”

“You vividly describe ways you’d end your life,” she reminds me. I knew I couldn’t trust her, I knew I couldn’t trust anyone, but she made me feel as though she wanted the best for me. “You have also on several occasions expressed how much you hate your sister, and Audrey Cole.”

My jaw drops, everything she says she asked me to tell her, she made me put a name on the piled-up emotions I had towards them, “You asked me to.”

“Your feelings towards these people and what they’ve done to you prompted your decision to hurt your sister.” She says.

“I didn’t push her!” I snap, rising from my seat. “I didn’t even shove her hard, it was...” I trail off, turning towards Kingston. “Please believe me.”

“What’s your standing now?” Elder Xander asks. “Having heard all this, with a show of hands, who is in favour of keeping Luna Aeliana on the council?”

“Its quiet evident she needs help,” Doctor Nolan says. Another psychiatrist I met at the hospital one time. Head of psychiatry, if my memory serves me right, and he too smiled at me back then, but now he is spewing nonsense.

“Eleanor?” Kingston asks, swallowing hard.

“In light of this event, I recommend institutionalised treatment, three months at first, and then—”
