Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 365

KINGSTON

I stare out of the car for too long, and Rowan winds up coming back in. I can’t seem to stomach being in the house without Aeliana here. I used to be excited to get back home every time I went out because I knew there was a possibility she’d be home, and I’d get to see her smile, but not anymore. Aeliana isn’t here, and I’m to blame for that. I signed her away

“Get inside,” Rowan tells me. “You should get some rest.”

“I can’t,” I sigh, staring up at her bedroom window. I haven’t been able to sleep Aeliana left, all I see is her, all that I hear the moment I’m in a quiet room is the way she screamed for me not to let them take her. “I miss her Rowan.”

“Try sleeping in her room.” He says, and I finally remember what it is that I saw in her room. I too thought being surrounded by her, and her things, and her essence would help me fall asleep, but it only did the opposite. It made me cry, made me miss her even more. But then, moments later, as I tossed a few tissues into the trash, something caught my eye.

“I found a positive pregnancy test in her trash.”

“It’s Noah’s,” he says with a heavy sigh. “They were in Aeliana’s room when I went in to fetch Aeliana.”

“Oh, so she knows now?”

“Not yet, she must have trashed it without looking because she hid it when I walked in.”

I nod, I had assumed the tests were Noah’s, but I needed confirmation, and Aeliana’s blood work from the institution won’t come in for another two days. They’re testing her for traces of unprescribed medications, but she barely took the pills Eleanor put her on. “You should tell her, this is a difficult time for us all, but she’s taking this hard, she’s been crying a lot.”

“I know,” he swallows, appearing even more defeated than I am. “But I don’t know what to say, Kingston.”

“How about, hey, I got you pregnant, and I’m sorry I wasn’t careful?” I offer, the words sounding stupid even to me. I wouldn’t say them, but he doesn’t exactly have any other options.

Rowan frowns, “I’m not sorry.”

I almost laugh at that, getting Noah pregnant could have been prevented at some point. “You will be when the girl is done with you,” I snicker. “Did you forget who you knocked up?”

“It wasn’t on purpose.”

“Of course not,” I nod. “But you were on those drugs.”

“I stopped taking them,” he shoots back.

“Not long enough.” I remind him. When he started sleeping with her the drugs were still in his system, he had taken quite a number of them before that.

“She got pregnant the first time,” he quietly says. “I had an inkling it would stick.”

“And you still didn't think yo tell her?” I pause. Rowan seems to have lost his head the moment that Noah showed up here, his actions are more than questionable. “Rowan, you could have prevented this mess you're in. I understand your relationship with her, but it's too early for a baby, you’ve hardly gotten to know each other.”

“I—”

“Feel like you've known her a lifetime?” I finish for him. “Yeah, I know. I’ve heard that a hundred times, and I think it's high time you and Noah had that conversation. She feels bad, she thinks she is wrecking your marriage. Tell her.”

“I will.” He nods, “Should I start with the drugs first?”

“Okay,” I pat his shoulder. I’ve solved his issues, he gets to go inside, and see his mate, I need to see mine too. I can't take it, the seven days aren’t working for me. I can’t settle for the updates from her doctor, I need to see her for myself. “Get out, I’m going to the institute.”

“You can’t go there for another four days, it will disrupt her treatment.”

“I miss my mate, Row.” I groan, starting the car again. “I don’t care if I hate to watch from afar, I want to see her, I want to make sure she’s alright.”

“The doctor said—”

“I know.” I nod. “I heard him, but I want to see for myself, I need to see that she’s fine. I can’t...I don’t know how I’m supposed to handle ninety more days of this, I need her here.”

“She’ll be back,” he says, his voice unsure. “We all need her back, but she needs to do this for herself first, I’m not happy about this either, but think of her.”

I nod.

I was thinking of her, I still am. “I’m still going, I need to see her.”

“Okay,” he sighs with defeat. “I’ll go inside and take a shower.”

“Noah.”

He nods, “I know.”
