I have felt every bit guilty since Aeliana left. Had I not been on my phone, they wouldn't have had any evidence at all. I wasn’t even able to see her as she left. I was out running errands. I tried to go and see her twice. The first time, Rowan dragged me back into the house, and the second time, they wouldn't let me see her at that damned facility. They said she wasn't allowed visitors her first week there. It’s been three days since she left, and on the first day, I cried so hard that I threw up.

“Miss Noah,” Lexie calls, knocking on my open door. “Can I come in?”

“Yeah,” I sniff, wiping my tears away.

“You’re still crying?” She asks, her voice low. Lexie has been very close to me over the last few days. I don’t know if its bevause she doesn’t know what to do with Aeliana gone, but she always checks on me and asks to help with just about anything. “You miss her a lot, don't you?”

I nod, “I do, and she would still be here had I not gone on that damn live. I don’t even know why I was on it. I just—”

“It’s not your fault,” she smiles. “Please don’t blame yourself, Luna Aeliana would be very upset if she knew you were blaming yourself for what happened to her. It was unfortunate, and we all miss her a lot. The house is a little quiet now.”

“She’ll be back right?” I swallow. I don’t think I’ll ever get over this if she goes away for too long. I already feel guilty about her leaving. “She can do this within three months or less, right?”

“Yes,” She confidently nods. “She can come back in a week, she’s very determined.”

“She’s strong.” I nod. “My Ellie can get through this.”

“Yes, Miss, that’s the spirit!” She smiles. “You see, even I’m missing her a lot, and I can't wait for her to come back.”

“Me too.”

She sets the tray I overlooked when she entered on the bed beside me. “Beta brought this for you.”

My heart skips a beat at the mention of him. I haven’t seen him since last night. “Rowan is back?”

“Yes, he just came back a moment ago.” She tells me. “He said you should eat something, miss. You people have all stopped eating since Luna Aeliana left.”

“Thank you.” I smile, taking the bag from her.

My stomach is flat, but my two abs are gone. I’m a little bloated too, but I haven’t been in the gym for a long time. I’ve been cooped up in bed with Rowan...“shit,” I groan, running back into the room to look for the tests I bought the day Aeliana left. I didn’t even get to say goodbye because I was buying pregnancy tests, tests I forgot about until now.

I find them stashed in one of the drawers in my dresser. Five. I grab three and run back to the bathroom, kicking it shut. I take the tests one by one, laying them upside down so I don’t get scared. I take pregnancy tests every month, so why am I still scared? I’m a veteran now, I shouldn’t scare easily, I’ve survived too many pregnancy scares.

When I see the first positive, I pause, trying to convince myself I have a one-for-one with the negative test I took three days ago. I waited a few seconds, but seconds turn to minutes, and I don’t know if the minutes crossover into hours by the time I check the second. Positive. I don't have to look at the third, but when I do, it’s positive too. “No. No. No.” I hiss, grabbing the test with trembling fingers.

There’s no way all three tests could be wrong. This is the brand I’ve bet my life on, the test that is never wrong, and right now, two very clear lines are staring back at me.

I’m pregnant.

How did I get knocked up by a mated man? The reality of it makes my head spin. I need to tell Aeliana.

I don’t process the thought, my first instinct is to find her, and I realize it halfway up the stairs that she’s gone. So I go to Rowan instead, he’s the second-best thing I’ve got here. If Ellie is not available, I must go to him, even better for this situation, because he is fifty percent part of this problem.
