“Keep her away from Audrey.” She deadpans.

“Why? Is there something that I should know?”

“No,” She instantly argues, vigorously shaking her head. “I’m just saying....I mean, Aeliana wouldn’t like it, so don’t let them get close, don’t leave her alone with Audrey.”

I nod. “Thanks for bringing her back safe.”

“I also dropped off the nurse, that’s why we were late, she lives three hours away.”

“Alright, have a good one,” I tell her, walking away at the same time that she turns to leave.

I had no idea Evelyn lived so far. I will have to make some better and more convenient accommodations for her. She is here with Aeliana from eight to six PM every day, and sometimes eight if I’m out late handling reports around the pack.

I go straight to Audrey’s room to fetch my mate, their laughter sparking a hint of envy within me. She should be with me in our bedroom, laughing harder than this.

“Aelia—Riley.” I bang on the door, still not used to that name, even after three days of constantly using it to validate her.

“What is it?” She groans from the inside.

“Come out for a moment.”

She wastes no time coming to the door, already annoyed that I’m here. “You are annoying, are you aware?”

“I want to see what you bought,” I tell her. “The bags are in your room. Can you come and model it for me?”

“No,” her nose scrunches up. “I’m with my friend, seriously, are you loose up there?”

“You’ll see your friend tomorrow.” I tell her, “It’s late, go to bed in your room.”

She pauses, staring me up and down as if sizing me up for battle. “If I don’t want to?”

“That’s fine,” I shrug. “But being in your room has its perks. Maddox will bring you breakfast in bed.” I tell her, shamelessly using my best friend to get my mate to do what I want. It's been a rough few days. Maddox has been hiding because he is petrified of Aeliana and the possibility of me tearing his throat out if she kisses him again.

“The cutie pie?” Her head tilts with a slight smile. “Fine, but I want him shirtless.” She huffs. “And I don’t want a big breakfast, I want pancakes and marmalade, that's it.”

I nod, “I’ll have him make it too if that's what you want.” I tell her, ushering her back in the direction of her bedroom since she refuses to sleep in our bed, claiming there’s a girl there who stares at her.
