“Let's go order a round,” I tell him, drumming the table.
“You signed off on liquor.” Rowan reminds me.
“Juice,” I lift my hand to grab a waiter's attention. “You guys drink, I’m good to drive.”
The waiter brings us a round of beer, and I get a few mocktails. My palate has expanded tonight. I try every mocktail and lemonade available, looking for one that substitutes gin or comes close to it.
My night gets better when I can no longer see my horrific one-night stand anywhere. It truly brings more life to the room. We talk for a couple of minutes, most of which are Rowan and me going back and forth about who has it bad, while he, who has it worse, just listens, calling us out when we go too far in proving our point.
Kingston twitches in his seat, “Fuck.” He groans, a hand flying to his chest.
We pause our bickering, “Are you okay?” I ask.
“Yeah,” he nods, clearing his throat. “Just a little….fuck.” he hisses, his chest rapidly rising and falling. He seems to be in a lot of pain, groaning and clutching his chest, nearly sliding off the seat.
“King, what is it?” Rowan asks, helping him steady upwards again, but he can’t seem to sit up straight.
His eyes widen, “Aeliana.” He chokes out, his eyes watering. “No. I need to find her right now.” He groans, trying to get up from his seat, but the pain almost takes him to the floor.
“Wait, slow down.” Rowan helps him back into his seat. “Aeliana is okay, she is with her nurse.”
He shakes his head, his head low. “She’s with another man.”
“What?”
“Someone has her, I can feel it,” he loudly groans, slapping his fist over his chest in an attempt to dull the ache. “The bond has been betrayed.”
“I don’t know, that’s what i’m asking you. King is looking for her because he felt something through the bond.”
Her eyes widen. “Oh my God, did I lose her?”
“I wouldn't say that, but likely so. She seems to have snuck off and done something stupid, or someone is taking advantage of her.”
“Shoot, I’ll look for her.” She groans, getting up a little too quickly. “She wanted to use the bathroom but wanted a more private one that hadn’t been used by many others tonight.”
“Do you remember where you took her?”
“Yes, Room twenty, we booked it.” She touches her head. “We were there.”
“This is room twenty.”
