Noah, Maddox and I spend the next hour together, and when Aeliana returns we all go out for lunch. Me, her, Noah, Evelyn, Maddox and Danielle, who seemed to spawn out of nowhere. I love Dani, I really do but it’s uncomfortable to be in the same space as her and Noah, I feel obligated to pick a side and both women are equally kind and thoughtful but the situation they’re in remains unfortunate.

We’re only just returning from our lunch at a nearby bar when Audrey walks in, with about five men in

uniform behind her.

“Ugh,” Maddox groans. “Would you look who it is.”

“Audrey,” Danielle frowns, staring at her like she shouldn’t be here. Not only does Danielle do that, but everyone does. “Who are these people?”

Audrey pauses, her eyes flickering between us all before she settles on Danielle beside me. “My moving crew,” she softly says. “I got an apartment nearby, but I can’t keep coming in here to get my stuff, its a bit

of a hustle.”

“Do you need help packing?” Noah asks, her tone laced with excitement. “I’d love to help.”

Audrey rolls her eyes. “Oh, the reject is back. ” Didn’t see you there, second not choice,” she sneers.” Healed already? You look well and chubby.”

“This bitch!” Noah gasps, rising from her seat, but Aeliana pulls her back down. “Chubby? I’m chubby?”

“Boys, follow me.” She says, leading the men upstairs. I’ve seen Audrey at River’s twice this week alone, and not once did she look upset, which is very odd considering she is moving out or has moved out. She’s very attached to my brother and this house.

“Let it go,” Maddox sighs. “She’s just trying to spite you because she’s no longer immune to Kingston’s

wrath.”

Noah huffs, arms crossing over her chest. “So glad she doesn’t live here anymore. I fucking hate her. I’m not chubby, am I?” She asks, her gaze shifting from person to person.

“No, you look good, babe,” Maddox tells her.

Through all the chaos, Aeliana remains silent. She seems to have gotten quieter since Audrey walked into the room. We all did, but for her, her mood changed drastically, she looks so low now. I know how she feels about the girl. It’s no secret these two have never gotten along.

“Are you okay, A?”

“Yeah,” she nods, her gaze meeting mine with a forced smile. “She just ruined my mood.”

“Mine too,” Maddox groans, seemingly irritated too.

I pause. “What’d she do to you?”

“You and her?” I gasp, my stomach coiling with disgust at the idea of him having sex with Kingston’s ex. Not just a random hookup but an ex whom he was set on marrying for like four years. It’s a very weird thing. Had he been pinning for her all along? “Wow, I never pegged you for a passing-around type.”

“I was drunk,” he blurts out. “And I hooked up with her and the other bridesmaid. Worst night of my life.”

Aeliana shakes her head. “I am still trying to recover from the image of her feeding me her fingers,” she says, her face twisting with something too close to disdain. “Can we please stop talking about her?”
