Audrey starts shaking, her chest rising and falling in a rapid motion. “Stop talking.” She growls, launching herself at Seraphine. I step in before she lands, throwing her towards Caleb. “Restrain her.”

“Why are you doing this to me?” She sobs.

“You need to let her go,” Seraphine tells her. “It’s enough, you went too far already. You’ve crossed the line hundreds of times, but you don’t see it, and I cover up for you because I’m scared of how far I’ve gone along with it. But it’s enough, babe. You can’t keep punishing her for something she did when she was six, she was just a child.”

“What?” I pause. Audrey is trying to drive Aeliana crazy over something that she did when she was six years old? “What did you say?”

“She didn’t bully her,” Seraphine says with a bitter laugh. “She lied to you. Aeliana never attacked first.”

“Sera, don’t do this.” Audrey chokes out. “Why are you lying just to save yourself? I’m your friend.”

“My friend wouldn’t have thrown me under the bus the moment Kingston caught you.” She sniffs. “You know damn well Aeliana never did anything to you. You fucking lied, you did everything yourself.”
