The last few days have been hectic. From making a public statement about Audrey, to getting in contact with the border security offices, and sending my Zetas on the hunt for Brandon’s lookalike. Then having to strike a deal with Alpha Fenwick because he was nowhere to be seen in the forty-three hours since I put out his hunt order.

However, the lookalike was captured before I could make it halfway to the pack. The million reward I put on his head seemed to have motivated people enough. The man was delivered to my Gammas, and the trip to meet with Alpha Fenwick turned into a hospital trip. I figured I might as well utilise that time to get the checkup while Aeliana was convinced I was out hunting the lookalike.

Maddox met me at the hospital, and from the moment he saw how badly my leg had begun to swell, he had two theories. Both of which were easily confirmed after I had the tests done. I’d stepped on some poison, most likely when I had shifted, and Jagger ran us out of territory for a few hours.

The doctors and herbalist are yet to determine the substance, but it had begun to eat away at the tissues in my leg, and had I ignored the pain, it would have been too late for any recuperation.

Thankfully, it went in before the real damage struck, and they were able to drain the blood and pus out of my leg. Maddox had gone back to the house for some traditional herbal medications that he mixed up and injected into my bloodstream just in case the poison had begun to spread. Samples of the drainage from the swelling were taken for labs because if I stepped on it, there’s a possibility the poison has made its way onto the scene and it’s not long before rival packs start to use it to fight their battles. And when that time comes, my pack will be ready. 1

Maddox drives me back to the house, and the first thing I notice is Gamma Cole’s car, and I can’t get out of the car fast enough. My mother arrived from her vacation with her friends days ago, and since then, she has been visiting Aeliana daily.
