“I’ll be quiet,” I smile. “But I’m not leaving you until the doctor says I can take you home.”

“My home,” she says. “I’m going to my house, Anastasia and me, she’ll take care of me. She’s amazing, she’ll set up her little emergency stuff, and we’ll eat chocolates while we watch a romcom.”

I nod, all the things she is listening to sound hella familiar. “Is that my replacement?”

“What?” She blinks.

“She’s doing all the things I used to do with you. What was it you called it…” I trail off, trying to recall the proper term. “Bed rot.”

“She’s not fucking me,” she snickers. “She does swing that way, but we are strictly professional.”

“Good to know,” I nod.

She rolls her eyes, “Smile.” She says, “You can smile, I want to get mad.”

“I don’t-”

“Let me get mad at you again.” She frowns, “Smile so you can piss me off, it’s kind of hard to be mad at you right now after how cool you were about me lying.”

Oh. This is a new one, but still, I know exactly how to give her what it is that she wants. “I love you.”

“That’ll do it,” she groans. “Fuck you,” She hisses, “You’re so irritating.”

Last night, Rowan didn’t come home, but Caleb did, and it was from him that I learned where Rowan was. He spent the night at the hospital with Noah, and this morning, Danielle took him a change of clothes and they returned together. I don’t think Noah is into the idea of being with both of them.

I’ve always wondered how it is that the triad bond works when all three don’t start together, and now, I get to see it play out in front of me. “She doesn’t want Aeliana to know she’s back?” I frown, finding it odd because they’re glued together when Noah is here.

“She plans on surprising her at the party,” he tells me. “And she didn’t want to worry her.”

“But she’s fine?”

“Yes, it’s quite normal apparently, but she didn’t bleed again so we have nothing to worry about for now. She’s back to her snappy self already.” He says with a slight smile, “And Calix had some words for me.”
