Something strange is going on with Noah.

I’ve called her a couple of times today and Anastasia answered the phone, claiming she was busy with some work. I know her well enough to know that she wouldn’t be doing any work outside her job and she has been utilising her vacation days to the fullest.

It’s not just today, we’ve spoken a couple of times, and each time, she’s in a hurry to end the call. We’re basically down to texting, and I hate it. I’m sulking on the porch when Kingston joins me from lord knows where he’d gone early this morning.

He takes a seat beside me, and I let out a heavy sigh, wanting to complain to someone since my Nurse has the week off, and she went partying last night, so she’s nursing her hangover. “What’s going on, baby?”

“Noah isn’t picking my video calls,” I sigh, tapping my phone on my thigh. “She keeps avoiding them, and she doesn’t even call back. Then when she does call, it’s a voice call.”

“Maybe it’s inconvenient for her to answer your calls.”

“Nope, no inconvenience.” I shake my head, annoyed by his lack of concern for my favourite friendship. “She just doesn’t like me as much anymore.”

Kingston sighs, “Aeliana.” He says, his tone tired. “You can’t be serious.”

“She’s my best friend,” I whine.

“I’m your best friend.”

I frown.

If he develops a habit of calling me his friend, he’ll forget I’m his wife before anything. “Stop calling me your friend,” I hiss. He hasn’t been much of a friend lately. “We’ve not done any friend stuff, and you stuffed my womb.”

He laughs, putting his arm around me and kissing my cheek. “And you just look stunning with your tiny bump,” he says, staring down at my belly. “I think you’re showing more now.”

“Oh please,” I scoff, pushing his arm away. I’m wearing his T-shirt. It’s like a dress on me, a very loose one at that, so he’s lying. I thought at this point, he’d be lying about how skinny I look, but it’s quite the opposite. “I have a mirror, it’s like our son is growing in my chest instead.”
