Chapter 522

I find Damien and while I say goodbye to him, Kingston has already sneaked out before I get to Noah. I don’t linger too long, I simply give her a heads-up on who she will be riding home with, and she seems surprisingly fine with it. I slip out without anyone stopping me.

I drive us home, and just like on the way here, Kingston watches me the whole time, he doesn’t say much. ” Baby,” he softly coos, following behind me. “Did you have a good night?”

“The best,” I nod. “And this is the first birthday since I started drinking that I’m not completely wasted.”

“Do you miss it?”

“No, it’s quite nice,” I sigh, walking up the stairs with his hand in mine. “And healing.”

“Healing?”

“Yeah, the only reason that I was drinking so much was that I needed to get through the day. For some reason, everything I tried to numb would hit me all at once on my birthday, and so I’d try to numb that so I could feel some sort of joy.” I sigh, “I don’t need it anymore, I’m very happy. I’m seeing days I never thought would be possible and everything is perfect now.” I look back with a smile. “I’ve had fun today, I’m glad you did this.”

“Then I’m glad too.”

The moment we’re in our room, I’m ready to get naked. My body has gotten used to comfortable clothing, it’s a miracle I’ve lasted over five hours in this thing. “Take it off.” I groan, pausing in the middle of the room.

Kingston unzips my dress and kisses my shoulder when he’s done. I wiggle out of the dress, pick it up, then gently drape it over my dresser chair, on top of the red one with the broken zipper. I make my way to the closet and start fishing for one of King’s T-shirts, something I can wear to bed. They’ve all been washed, but I still look for the one that has a hint of his cologne on it and it takes me a while. I also find him a pair of shorts to wear to bed. While finding his shorts, I come across the letters, and I pause for a minute. I still haven’t read most of them, I cried like a baby the last time I tried reading them because it made me realise just how misunderstood we both were to each other.

When I come back out, I find Kingston standing close to the door, and the moment he sees me, he has a huge smile on his face. “What?” I frown.

“Lay down.”

“Why?”

“You ask way too many questions, Aeliana.”

I shrug, “Why not?”
