Chapter 524
NOAH
Aeliana’s birthday was amazing.
I had a hard time keeping things from her, but it was worth it to see that satisfied grin on her face. I was going crazy being unable to talk to her, but it had to be done, and just when I thought I’d screwed up, she didn’t catch on at all.
Not long after Aeliana and Kingston left, I had to say goodbye to my new friend and find our ride. Anastasia didn’t linger around me all night, she found her crowd. She easily made friends with Aeliana’s nurse and they hung out for most of the night. Rowan was drunk, so Danielle drove Anastasia and me home, and she was nice enough to stop for ice cream.
“Thanks for the ride.” I smile, getting out of the car. “Goodnight,” I tell Danielle, leaning to my left to peek in the backseat again. “Sidekick.” I give him a small nod.
He nods, “Goodnight Noah.” He smiles, a little too easily. He’s in between drunk and tipsy, and what a fine line to be dancing on. He’s been laughing and smiling at everything with a known ease. “Can you take the route with the gas station? I need to pee, babe.”
Danielle groans, “You can wait until we get home, Row. It’s only a few minutes.” I hear her say, starting the car just as I turn to leave.
Rowan has been wanting to go to the bathroom since before we left The Lotus, and at the time, she thought he just wanted to down another shot in the name of peeing.
“I have a bathroom,” I say, turning around. “You can use the bathroom here,” I tell him, and before I’m done talking, Rowan is out of the car and sprinting for my door.
Yeah.
He wouldn’t have made it another mile. “You should come in,” I tell Danielle. “It’s cold outside.”
Rowan goes in, he doesn’t need any directions, he likely knows my house like the back of his hand by now. Anastasia is already inside the house, drinking the tea because she can’t go to bed without it.
“Anastasia,” I coo. “So, what did you think?”
“It was a great party. Are they all like this?”
“No,” I snort out a laugh, I may have oversold Mooncrest in my tales about it. I gave her my version, but everyone else has different versions of it. The only thing that remains the same is the love for it. “That was our Luna’s birthday. You remember her from last time, don’t you?” She nods, continuing with her drink. “ Mooncrest has its charm. It took me less than a week to find my favourite places here, but now I love it. By the time you quit this gig, you’ll have fallen for this pack yourself.”
Anastasia smiles, her eyes shifting to Danielle for a moment. “It’s definitely something, and I hope for a unique experience while I’m here.”
