“What do you want?” I snap, already uninterested now. She’s getting personal, touching wounds I haven’t healed

from.

“You have to admit you’re a conniving slut,” she says, arms crossed over her chest. “I want you to admit that it kills you that he wants me instead, I want you to admit that you are still obsessed with him even though he loves me.”

“You know what? I have your confession.” I sigh. Audrey thinks she is the only one who can get under my skin, but I know how to get under hers too. It’s low of me but sometimes, you have to meet people on the ground where they are. “It might not be a confesssion persay but I abso-fucking-lutely get it,” I shrug. Her ears perk up, staring more intently now. “I absolutely understand what it is with him, I understand why you’re this loony bin challenged about him.”

“He fucks good, even better than before,” I say, forcing a smile. “Should I thank you for that? For teaching him new tricks?”

“Dogs are loyal but at the end of the day, he’s just a dog on two legs and so are you, aren’t we all?” I muse.

She begins to twitch, like there is no bigger insult I could have called her that would have made her snap. “You have no respect for this pack, why would the moon goddess curse us with an illiterate fool for a Luna?”

“You are the illiterate one,” I snap. “I had my bachelor’s, I have my master’s, I did all that while you were trying to get one bachelor’s and you couldn’t. Which reminds me, why are you not in some dorm room at a school your Father paid to get you into?”

Shw scoofs, “That’s for whimps. Why would I want to learn to serve the humans? They wouldn’t do anything for us, they hunted us for centuries and some still do. I’d rather stay here and learn real skills.”

I nod, “I’m guessing you learn those under Kingston?” I smirk. “No shame, I learned a little something too. But out in the real world, where Kingston isnt Alpha? You wouldn’t last a day, everything is rainbows and sunshine because he’s sticking up for you.”

“And it must kill you, right?”

“Kill is a strong word,” I snort out a laugh. “But since we are naming things that bother the other, why don’t I start by saying how bothered you are by not being Luna? Does it scare you? I mean, I’m his Luna no matter what,
