Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

“Three?” Danielle winces, “God, let them try that shit on me. I’ve been itching for a justifiable kill.”

“Can you not talk about killing men,” Audrey frowns. “Wait until breakfast is over. You couldn’t even ask how the poor woman was doing.”

Danielle frowns, “You’re right. How is she?”

“I will be visiting her today,” Audrey says. “I hear she’s still shaken up from the event.”

“I spoke to a contact in Onyx Moon, who mentioned something about them kidnapping children too.” Ivan says, He isn’t a reliable source, but it looks like they’re not just scavenging anymore.”

Joey, one of Kingston’s new gammas nods. “We should double border patrols.”

“That’s not nearly enough,” Audrey huffs. “What kind of monster targets children?” She pouts, her eyes shifting back to Kingston. “Babe-Kingston, I know you don’t want to worry the pack, but you need to tell them, they might lose trust in you.”

“They might panic, no. No doubt about it, they definitely will.” Danielle nods, still looking at her magazine.

I finally take a sip of my coffee, wishing it were liquor instead, or at least strong enough to knock some energy into me. “Audrey is right.” Maddox says, “Better aware and alert than caught waiting.”

Kingston nods, and so does Rowan. “I will put out an alert, and have the boarders get more strict, I’ll ask them to be wary of anyone who looks out of place.”

“Why don’t we have the pups do drills?” Audrey suggests, “I can have some of my friends volunteer to teach them a few defence tactics.”

“That’s a great idea,” Kingston says, smiling widely, proud.

Yep, they’re made for eachother.

The fucking dream team, she’s done everything a Luna should to help him, and I just sat here, sipping bland coffee.

Danielle finally drops her magazine, her eyes meeting mine with a smile. “Luna Aeliana, is everything okay?” She asks, “You’re awfully quiet.”

“Great,” I nod, rubbing my hands on my leggings.

“Are you sure?” Maddox asks, “You haven’t touched your plate.”.

Again, I nod. “I’m great, I just need some air,” I say, pushing off my chair, and leaving them to their discussion. “Rude,” I hear Audrey scoff. “What’s up with her?”

Someone answers her but I don’t hear it, I quickly find my way outside, to the garden. I love the garden, I love how I can almost hear the trees and flowers talk when it’s empty.

Thankfully.

No one is working out here, today is when David comes to work, and he often works alone because the others are scared of him. He isn’t here, I told him not to return until his knee fully healed because he was still limping the last time I saw him.
