Natasha’s heart was burning with anxiety.

Just as she was at a loss, Jared suddenly broke the kiss.

But his forehead stayed pressed against hers, and he was gasping for breath.

His hazel eyes locked onto her, smoldering and profound.

They radiated raw dominance and possessiveness.

Natasha’s heart was pounding under his intense stare, and her ears were burning hot.

But she remembered Percy was still on the phone, waiting for her.

She tried her best to keep calm.

“It’s nothing. I just got bitten by a cockroach out of nowhere. It startled me,” she said.

She was clearly talking about Jared.

Without warning, he dipped down and actually sank his teeth into her neck.

Natasha nearly let out another gasp.

“Don’t you dare go on a date with him.”

He didn’t utter a word, but Natasha caught the meaning from the way his lips moved. She knew exactly what he was saying.

‘A date?’ Natasha blinked.

She froze, caught off guard.

Natasha thought, ‘Wait, did Jared misunderstand? I’m not planning to go on a date with Percy at all. We’re meeting at City Hall to finalize the divorce, for crying out loud.’

Natasha opened her mouth, ready to explain herself.

But she was still talking to Percy on the phone, so it was not the right moment.

Besides, she didn’t want Jared to know she and Percy were about to finalize their divorce.

If he found out, he’d find more reasons to cling to her.

Percy sounded skeptical. “Cockroach? Where are you right now?”

He could tell Natasha was obviously brushing him off.

“I…” Natasha forced a smile. “I’m at the office.”

As soon as she said that, Percy instantly got annoyed.

“What? The office? Natasha, you’re still at work? Are you seriously messing with me right now?” he yelled angrily.

“I’m not…” Natasha started to explain, but before she could get another word out, Jared was suddenly all over her again.

His tall, heated frame pressed up against her, not leaving even an inch of space.

His unique scent enveloped her, making her head spin.

Natasha went rigid, paralyzed.

Words died on her lips.

She was nervous as hell, worried that if she said the wrong thing, Jared would pounce on her or something.

Jared’s lips brushed lightly against her cheek, barely there but sending a shiver down her spine.

His big hands started roaming over her body again, making her skin tingle.

Natasha’s heart was in her throat, pounding with nerves.

She had no idea what he was about to do next.

“Why so quiet all of a sudden?” Percy’s voice cut in, sharp and impatient.

“Cat got your tongue?” he pressed, clearly annoyed.

Seeing she was ignoring him again, Percy’s patience was wearing thin. “You’ve only got seven minutes left…*

He wasn’t going to let her waste his time.

Percy wasn’t going to wait around any longer.

Deep down, though, he didn’t want Natasha to come over and actually sign the divorce papers.

Percy didn’t want to admit it to himself.

All he knew was that Joelle was his dream girl, the one he always longed for.

If he hadn’t divorced Natasha, he and Joelle would never have had a shot.

If this had been before, Percy might have hesitated.

But now that Nicolas was getting ready to divorce Joelle, Percy felt like his shot with Joelle was back on the table.

The call ended abruptly.

Percy couldn’t believe his eyes as he stared at his phone.

His emotions were all over the place.

Percy thought, ‘Did Natasha hang up on me?

‘I haven’t even finished talking, and she beat me to hang up first?

‘Does she even want this divorce or not?’

Percy knew he should be pissed.

Yet, to his shock, a tiny bit of happiness crept in.

‘I must be losing my mind, he thought.

Back at Natasha’s side…

Jared suddenly snatched her phone, and Natasha instinctively reached out to grab it back.

“Hey, give it back,” she protested.

Jared leaned in with a sly grin, getting close. “Give me a kiss, and I may hand it over.”

Natasha couldn’t take it anymore.

She glared at him, furious. “Don’t you dare try anything funny.”

He was getting handsy with her while she was still on the phone.

She hadn’t even called him out for that yet.

And now he dared to ask her for a kiss?

‘Where does he get the nerve?’ Natasha grumbled to herself.

“Exciting, huh?” Jared smirked, his eyes smoldering.

Jared’s gaze was hot and unwavering as he stared at her.

Natasha gave him a look that said it all. “Not even a little…”

Exciting? She was scared half to death. What was so thrilling about that?

Jared grinned wickedly. “Go ahead, call him back. Let’s see if we can keep the show going.”

Natasha’s eye twitched in annoyance. “I’m not about to join your madness. Just give me my phone…”

Jared smirked. “Like I said, one kiss and it’s yours.”

No way was Natasha going to kiss him.

Since he refused to give it back, she tried to snatch it right out of his hands.

Jared deliberately held Natasha’s phone up high, out of her reach.

He was tempting her to lunge at him.

He kept backing away, teasing her with every step.

She finally managed to snatch her phone out of his hands.

But in reality, Jared was letting her have it.

“Was that fun?” Jared asked with a low, teasing laugh.

Natasha tucked her phone away.

She shot him a glare, clearly annoyed.

Just as Natasha was about to get off him, Jared wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her right back against his chest.

“Good girl, let’s continue,” Jared murmured.

“No… Mmph…” Natasha protested, but before she could finish, Jared pressed his lips to hers, cutting her off.

Natasha had barely managed to say no before Jared leaned in and claimed her lips, silencing her with a kiss.

His kiss was wild and fierce, biting and sucking at her lips with reckless abandon.

Natasha couldn’t resist him at all.

He left her breathless, stealing every bit of air from her lungs.

She twisted and struggled, desperate to escape his embrace.

But she had no idea that her frantic movements only fueled his desire even more.

Jared’s body tensed up, every muscle taut with longing.
