Chapter 168 He’s in a Relationship

Natasha’s brow furrowed.’ Seriously, he has the nerve to text me again?’ Natasha thought. ‘Is Lizzie not keeping him happy. so now he remembers me?’

She replied coldly: [I’m not feeling well. I won’t be coming.]

Jared quickly replied: [What’s wrong?]

He just assumed she was sick or something. But what Jared didn’t realize was that Natasha was actually upset; her feelings were all over the place. She just couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.

Natasha: [It’s nothing. I’ll be fine after a nap.]

Jared: [Get some rest. If you’re still not feeling better tomorrow, I’ll take you to the hospital.]

Natasha ignored his message and threw her phone aside.

Dorothy had just made herself a bowl of noodle soup and hadn’t even taken a bite when the doorbell rang.

She walked over and opened the door, and to her surprise, Natasha was standing outside.

“Nat, why are you here so late?” Dorothy exclaimed, surprised.

Natasha said, “I couldn’t sleep, so I thought I’d come hang out and talk with you.”

Dorothy blinked, a bit taken aback. “Chat? At this hour?”

‘It’s the middle of the night, and she’s here just to chat?’ Dorothy wondered, still confused. Even though Dorothy was puzzled, she stepped aside to let Natasha in.

Natasha walked in and immediately spotted the bowl of noodle soup on the coffee table. “Are you having a midnight snack?”

Natasha asked.

“Nope, this is actually my dinner,” Dorothy replied. “I’m just making do since I’m by myself. Want a bowl too?”

Natasha realized she hadn’t eaten anything all day and was actually pretty hungry. She didn’t refuse. “Sure.”

Dorothy quickly fixed her a bowl too, and the two of them dug in and chatted over noodles. “Is something up? Why’d you come over so late?” Dorothy asked, concern in her voice. She just knew Natasha must have something on her mind.

Natasha pressed her lips together, hesitating to speak. Truth was, she just didn’t want to go home and let her mind run wild, so she ended up at Dorothy’s place instead.

But the whole thing with Jared was way too awkward to bring up. She really had no clue how to even start telling Dorothy

about it.

Natasha decided to talk about something else. “Percy thinks Joelle was the one who saved him back then…” Natasha told Dorothy everything about how she was actually the one who helped Percy out when he was being bullied.

Dorothy was totally floored when she heard it. “Do you think Percy only got feelings for Joelle because he thought she was the one who saved him back then?” Dorothy asked.

Natasha raised an eyebrow. “Yeah.”

Dorothy pressed on, “So if Percy found out it was actually you who saved him, not Joelle, do you think he’d switch and like you instead?”

Natasha was lost for words. Her mind went blank for a moment, and she looked at Dorothy in disbelief.

‘Percy will be in love with me?’ Natasha couldn’t wrap her head around it. She’d never even considered that before. ‘Could that really happen?’

But deep down, she knew there was just no way. “Stop joking around,” Natasha said.

“I’m serious! If Percy only fell for Joelle because he thought she was the one who saved him, then if he finds out it was actually you, it’d be only natural for him to fall for you instead!” Dorothy said, sharing her opinion.

Natasha just couldn’t imagine that happening. Honestly, her mind wasn’t even on that right now.

Natasha’s mind was completely occupied with Jared and Lizzie’s relationship now. She wasn’t in the mood to care about how Percy ended up falling for Joelle.

Even if he ever found out one day that she was the one who had really saved him, it didn’t matter. She and Percy were already divorced, and his business was no longer any of her concern.

Dorothy noticed Natasha wasn’t saying anything and guessed she probably had no idea what to do either, so she changed

the subject and started chatting about something else.

At the villa, Jared heard the sound of the front door opening downstairs and came down from his study upstairs.

The aroma of food drifting from the dining room made him think Natasha must’ve arrived. He headed over without hesitation.

But when he saw the extra woman in the dining room, his expression darkened right away. “Who told you that you could just barge in?” Jared snapped, his voice icy, his handsome face was grim and severe.

Lizzie gave him a coy, playful look. “Your mom gave me the code and asked me to bring you dinner! She said you work late all the time and barely eat, so I cooked a few dishes myself. Come on, give them a try-”

Before she could finish, Jared cut her off. “I don’t need it. Take it back.” His tone was commanding, brooking no refusal

Lizzie’s face fell. She looked like she’d just been hit with a bucket of cold water, totally deflated. “I even went out of my way to find a chef and learn how to cook myself…” Lizzie said, her voice trembling.

She was a pampered heiress who’d never so much as boiled water before, but look at what she did for this dinner. Her fingers ended up with several cuts from the knife.

Yet look at him. He didn’t even take a bite, didn’t even look at the food, just told her to take it back. ‘Does he really think I don’t even have the right to cook for him?’ Lizzie thought, feeling crushed.

Jared’s eyes were icy, sharp as a razor. “That’s exactly why I’m telling you to take it back…”

If it weren’t for the fact that she went to all that trouble, he would’ve already kicked her and everything she brought straight out the door.

“You!” Lizzie blurted out, unable to hold back her frustration. Her expression shifted again and again as she finally understood what he meant.

She felt so wronged that she could barely put it into words. She thought if she kept putting herself out there, he’d finally see how much she cared. But she never expected Jared to be this impossible to win over.
