The following day, soft light filtered through the narrow gap of the undrawn curtains, spilling onto the bed where two figures lay entwined in each other’s arms.

Jared slowly opened his eyes. His gaze fell on the woman in his arms, and an unprecedented tenderness surfaced on his handsome face.

The large hand resting on her waist lifted slightly, gently brushing away the strands of hair that had fallen across her cheek. Natasha’s delicate, flawless face was revealed completely, without the slightest concealment.

Her eyes were tightly closed, and she was still asleep. Her delicate brows were tightly furrowed, as if weighed down by heavy thoughts. Jared’s long, slender fingers traced over the crease between her brows, as though trying to smooth away the unrest in her heart.

Just as his fingertips touched her, she let out a soft whimper. Natasha’s long eyelashes trembled slightly as she gradually regained consciousness. When she saw the handsome man so close to her, she let out a startled scream.

Then she vaguely recalled that he had carried her onto his bed last night. He had clearly promised that once she fell asleep, he would go to the guest room. Yet after she drifted off, he had actually gotten into bed with her.

“Why are you in my bed?” Natasha cried out, embarrassed and annoyed.

Jared arched an eyebrow with a teasing smile. “Are you sure this is your bed?” Natasha was at a loss for words. Before she could answer, he pulled her back into his arms and rolled over, pinning her beneath him.

After a night had passed, a faint stubble had grown along Jared’s usually clean and sharp jawline. At that moment, he leaned in toward Natasha, his face brushing against hers. A slight sting mixed with a faint, tingling numbness spread across her skin.

Natasha instinctively reached out and pressed her hand against his chest. “Get away from me!”

‘Guys in the morning are really the most dangerous, Natasha thought, annoyed yet amused. She couldn’t believe she had actually trusted him last night and ended up sleeping in his bed the whole night.

“First time I get to see you like this in the morning,” Jared hovered over her, staring down with eyes full of desire and tenderness.

Natasha’s cheeks blushed with embarrassment. Her heart started pounding without her even realizing it. Jared’s gaze was so intense, so hungry, as if he wanted to devour her right then and there.

“I need to wash up,” Natasha said, anxiously trying to push him off and make a run for the bathroom. But Jared didn’t give her the chance to escape. He looked at her with that spoiling, indulgent gaze and kissed her hard.

Natasha’s eyes were wide open, utterly stunned. She didn’t expect him to kiss her like that first thing in the morning. ‘I haven’t even brushed my teeth yet!’ Natasha thought, totally embarrassed.

Jared kissed her slowly, outlining every curve of her soft lips. His powerful arms trapped her slender waist. She was completely pinned down and could only surrender to his kiss until she was totally weak. Only when she was almost suffocated did Jared finally release her, who gasped for air.

“All this time, and you still don’t know how to breathe while kissing?” Jared teased, his forehead pressed against hers. She always ended up like this; he had barely kissed her for long before she was gasping for air.

Natasha was left weak all over from his kiss. She just gave him a look, not even bothering to respond. Jared looked at her meaningfully and asked, “No one ever taught you this?”

Natasha fell silent. Jared leaned in, his lips almost brushing hers. “Guess I’ll just have to teach you myself,” he murmured, his voice low and teasing. Seeing him coming in for another kiss, Natasha was panicked.

“I… I need to use the bathroom!” she blurted out, desperate for any excuse. While Jared hesitated, she shoved him away and bolted for the bathroom.

Just as Jared was about to chase after her, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen; it was his mother, Luna.

“Hi, Mom,” Jared picked up the call.

“So, how’s it going with Lizzie?” Luna sounded concerned.

Jared replied coolly, “No progress.”

Luna sounded doubtful. “It’s been days; how could this be?”

Jared frowned, clearly annoyed. “I told you, I don’t like her.”

Luna pressed, “Who do you like then?”

Jared instinctively glanced toward the bathroom. “Definitely not her, Jared replied. He didn’t feel a thing for Lizzie Moreover, he knew Lizzie was just a pawn in Harley’s game.

Luna paused for a moment before asking, “So, did you manage to win the heart of the woman you like?”

Jared fell silent. Luna sighed, “If you can’t get her, why not consider Lizzie…”

Luna said, “Alright, if you can win her over by the end of the year and bring her home for Christmas, I promise I’ll never bug you again!”

When Natasha finished washing up and came out, Jared was no longer in the room. She got dressed and went downstairs. Jared was waiting for her in the dining room.

Natasha hesitated for a moment, but walked over to him anyway. “Can you give me the meds for my nervous disorder now?

she asked.

She had asked him for the meds several times before, and he said he would only give them to her if she came over to his place. Now that she had already stayed overnight, he couldn’t go back on his word.

Jared looked at her intently. “Do you still get it often?”

Natasha replied, “It hardly happens now, but better safe than sorry!”

Jared stared at her for a moment. “I’ll grab it for you after breakfast.”

“Thanks,” Natasha replied and then pulled out a chair and sat down. They sat across from each other, quietly eating their

breakfast,

“Does Percy know about us?” After a long silence, Jared suddenly asked.

Natasha froze. She didn’t expect him to bring up Percy out of the blue. Jared’s eyes were intense. “Are you planning to keep this going behind his back?”
