Natasha woke up the next morning.

Her cramps had eased up a lot, and the pain had completely gone.

She instinctively checked the sheets. Luckily, there were no red marks.

If she’d known her period was about to start, she would never have shown up at Jared’s place.

After washing up, Natasha headed downstairs for breakfast.

As soon as Jared saw her, he asked, “Feeling better?”

Natasha replied politely, “Much better. Thanks for looking after me last night.”

She was still acting so polite.

It was like they weren’t friends with benefits, much less a real couple.

It was more like they were just boss and employee, or even total strangers.

Jared couldn’t help but feel a little down about it.

Natasha gave him a quick wink. “I’ll get out first. Give it a minute before you get out.”

Jared instantly caught on to what she was thinking.

“Afraid someone might find out about us?” he asked.

Natasha shot back, “Don’t you worry about that?”

If their relationship got out, it could jeopardize his relationship with Lizzie.

And then Roxanne would definitely confront him about it.

Jared reached out and pinched her cheek. “Honestly, I wish everyone would know about us already.”

“What?” Natasha stared at him, eyes wide in disbelief.

‘What is he even talking about? He wants everyone to know he’s sleeping with his subordinate?’ she thought, feeling a bit scandalized.

She seriously doubted she could keep working at this company after this.

If things kept going like this, sooner or later, everyone would find out about her and Jared.

Luckily, she’d already made up her mind to quit.

Just as Natasha was about to argue, Jared suddenly gave in.

“Alright, whatever you say.” He gazed at her with obvious affection.

Natasha let out a small sigh of relief and popped the car door open. She stuck her head out, glancing left and right on high alert.

Jared immediately told her, “Since it’s that time of the month, just rest up. Don’t wear yourself out.”

Natasha shot back, “There’s no company rule that says I can’t work overtime just because it’s that time of the month!”

Jared smirked, “Well, there is now. I just made it up.”

Jared teased her, “You’ve pretty much finished up. Go ahead and clock out.”

Natasha stared at him, stunned. “Seriously? Right now?”

It was barely three o’clock, and he was already letting her leave.

‘Isn’t this a bit too early?’ she wondered.

Jared said, “I had the housekeeper make you some ginger coffee. Go home and drink it while it’s still warm.”

With that, he got up and walked over, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

He was clearly planning to walk out of the executive office with her.

Natasha was instantly startled.

It was nowhere near the end of the day yet.

The secretaries in the executive office were all still there.

If they walked out, everyone would totally assume something was going on between them.

“Fine, I’ll leave with you. Just let go of me!” Natasha protested.

Jared curled his lips and finally released her with a hint of satisfaction.

Jared insisted she drink two of his special ginger coffees, not taking no for an answer.

He also personally cooked dinner for her.

Once she finished eating, he urged her to take a shower and get some sleep.

“I want to go home!” Natasha protested.

She wasn’t exactly thrilled about spending the night at his place like this.

They were friends with benefits, and she was on her period.

‘If we’re not even hooking up, what’s the point of staying at Jared’s place?’ she wondered.

“You’re on your period. If you stay here, I can take care of you,” Jared said, sounding genuinely concerned.

Natasha gave him a crooked smile. “It’s just my period, Jared. I don’t need you babying me.”

She was not sick or anything, so there was no point in all this fuss.

Even if someone had to take care of her, it definitely shouldn’t be Jared. Thinking of this, Natasha grumbled inwardly.

She didn’t want to owe him another favor out of nowhere, so she stubbornly insisted on leaving.

But Jared fixed his gaze on her. “Tell you what. If you stay over tonight, I’ll give you a gift.”

Natasha paused, surprised. “What kind of gift?”

Jared flashed a mysterious smile. “It’s right on my nightstand. Go in and open it, you’ll see.”

He’d prepared this gift while he was abroad and brought it back just for her.
