Chapter 26 fell Right into His Arms

Chapter 26 Fell Right Into His Arms

Before Gordon could finish his sentence, Jared’s fist slammed hard into his face.

Caught completely off guard, Gordon was knocked straight to the ground.

Everything happened so fast that Natasha barely had time to react.

The next second, Jared had already grabbed her wrist.

“Come with me.” Jared’s handsome face was cold and sharp. His tone left no room for argument.

With that, he wrapped an arm firmly around her slim waist and strode away with her.

Gordon lay on the ground, staring in stunned disbelief. ‘Isn’t Jared supposed to be indifferent to women?

‘And now he just snatched away the beauty I was about to win over?

‘But what can I do? It’s Jaredl after all. I’m still intimidated by Jared. There’s just nothing I can do against him.

Jared led Natasha out of the hotel. She instinctively struggled a little. “You can let go now.”

Jared loosened his grip slightly. The soft warmth in his arms slipped away almost immediately.

He forced down the strange reluctance in his chest and asked with concern, “Are you alright?”

Natasha nodded. “I’m fine. Thank you for tonight.”

Natasha thought, ‘If he hadn’t shown up in time, Gordon would have taken advantage of me. I’d have had no way to call for help.’

Jared frowned. “How did you end up crossing paths with him?”

They were all part of the same high society circle. Jared knew very well what kind of man Gordon was. Women who caught his eye usually didn’t end well.

Natasha gave a bitter smile. “Someone sold me out.”

Jared’s expression darkened. “Who?” he asked.

‘Who would dare betray her?’ Jared thought, his eyes narrowing.

Natasha’s face turned mocking. It was hard for her to say it out loud.

‘I can’t exactly tell him my own brother sold me out, she thought bitterly.

“It’s nothing. I should go back now,” Natasha said flatly.

Seeing her eager to leave, Jared grabbed her wrist again without thinking. “You’re going back?”

Natasha replied, “I still have to attend my sister’s wedding reception.”

Jared blinked in surprise. “Joelle is your sister?”

Natasha nodded. “You know her?”

“I don’t know her,” Jared said calmly. “But she’s about to marry a close friend of mine. I’ve heard about it

Jared hadn’t expected her to be Joelle’s sister. Before this, he had only heard that Joelle had a brother.

No one ever mentioned a younger sister. And it turned out to be Natasha.

Natasha felt the way he was looking at her was a little strange.

She asked, “Do you need something else? If not, please let go. I need to go back.”

Jared didn’t release her. “What if you run into Gordon again when you go back?” he asked, his eyes fixed on her

Natasha froze for a moment. She hadn’t thought about that.

But now that he mentioned it, the possibility made her uneasy.

Natasha thought quietly, ‘Gordon’s been after me for years. Now he’s suddenly back in the country.

‘It doesn’t look like he’s given up. And now Collin is helping him. If I go back now, I’m basically walking straight into a trap

Seeing the worry on her face, Jared couldn’t help asking, “Where’s your husband? Why isn’t he here protecting you?”

‘A proper husband should always stick by his wife’s side, especially when she needs him most, Jared thought. Natasha choked on the question.

She thought bitterly, ‘Right now, Percy is probably with Joelle. How will he have time to worry about me?’

“He had something to deal with. He stepped out for a bit, Natasha replied, making up an excuse.

‘I can’t possibly expose my family’s shame to him, she thought.

Hearing her defend her husband made Jared feel strangely irritated.

He thought darkly, ‘I’m the one who saved her. If anything, her husband failed to do his job.’

Jared wanted to question her, but quickly realized something was off.

He thought, ‘Why am I even getting involved in her marriage? I’m never someone who stuck my nose into other people’s business.

‘I only step in because she’s my subordinate. After helping her, I should have left immediately.

‘Why am I still standing here, wasting my breath on her?”

Jared knew he should walk away right now. But his feet refused to move.

Instead, he said, “Come on. I’ll take you home.”

Natasha instinctively refused. “Thank you, Mr. Rundell, But I can call a cab myself.”

Even if she wasn’t going back to the reception, Natasha didn’t need him to drive her home.

Jared’s dark gaze settled on her. His expression tightened. “Are you sure you can call a cab dressed like that?”

Natasha was about to argue, “What’s wrong with the way I’m dressed?”

But when she looked down, she froze. The collar of her gown had been ripped open by Gordon. Several buttons were missing.

The fabric barely covered her body. And the full curve of her chest was almost exposed.

Natasha’s face flushed instantly. She quickly crossed her arms over her chest to cover herself.

“You’re only thinking about covering up now? Isn’t it a little late?” Jared’s deep eyes flashed with amusement. “Everything that should be seen or shouldn’t be seen, I’ve already seen.”

“You!” Natasha’s eyes widened. Her cheeks flushed even deeper.

Before she could say anything else, Jared had already taken off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders.

It perfectly concealed her alluring yet exposed silhouette.

Now Natasha didn’t know what to say to him.

At that moment, the driver pulled up with Jared’s Rolls-Royce.

Jared opened the rear door for her. Natasha didn’t argue anymore. She got in.

She was just about to tell the driver her home address. But Jared spoke first and gave the address for her.

Natasha looked at him in surprise. She didn’t expect him to remember.

On the way, they sat side by side in the back seat.

Neither of them spoke. The atmosphere was awkward.

Natasha kept looking out the window. She wished the driver would hurry up and get her home.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Natasha looked down. It was her mother, Sandra.

‘Bet she’s calling to check where I am, Natasha thought.

She hesitated, thinking about what excuse she should give.

Then Jared’s voice sounded beside her. “Your husband calling?”
