Chapter 264 Making Things Difficult for Her
Chapter 264 Making Things Difficult for Her
Natasha used her resignation as a chance to finally take a good rest at home.
She and Jared had stopped contacting each other.
It was like they had become nothing but strangers to one another.
They went back to where they belonged, living separate lives.
One day, after visiting Zayn at the hospital, Natasha sat alone at a street-side café, sipping her coffee.
Nicolas happened to drive by in his sports car.
He caught sight of her stunning profile.
He couldn’t help but press down on the accelerator, taking a few more glances at her.
“Natasha!” Nicolas called out.
He stepped out of his sports car and strode over to her with effortless swagger.
Natasha looked up.
Nicolas was dressed in a casual suit today, looking sharp and put-together.
Under the sunlight, he radiated youthful energy and vitality.
Natasha gave him a polite smile. “Hi, Nicolas.”
She almost called him “brother-in-law,” but remembered he and her sister were divorced now, so she went with “Nicolas.”
“It’s been a while!” Nicolas’ said.
Nicolas smirked, not holding back his praise. “You’re getting more and more beautiful.”
Natasha replied, “Thanks.”
Nicolas grinned and asked, “Why are you sitting here alone with your coffee?”
Natasha’s smile faltered. “Just killing time.”
“Mind if I join you?” Nicolas arched a brow playfully.
Natasha wasn’t really familiar with him.
But since he’d already asked, she felt awkward turning him down, so she nodded
Nicolas immediately sat down across from her, joining her for coffee.
Nicolas started chatting with her. “Shouldn’t you be at work at this hour?”
Natasha replied, “I quit.”
A hint of surprise flashed in Nicolas’s eyes. “Quit? Did you really kick Jared qut?”
Natasha paused for a second, then burst out laughing.
“Yeah, I quit on my own,” she said.
Nicolas looked concerned. “What happened? Was Jared giving you a hard time?”
Natasha took a sip of her coffee. “I didn’t want to do it anymore.”
They ended up chatting casually for a while.
Natasha realized Nicolas was actually really easy to talk to and pretty funny.
Without even noticing, she found herself talking with him even longer.
At one point, she went to the restroom.
Nicolas pulled out his phone and shot Jared a message.
[Take a wild guess who I’m having coffee with right now?]
He waited for a while, but Jared didn’t reply.
Nicolas sent another. [It’s that assistant you used to have, Natasha.]
Jared replied almost instantly: [Where are you
Nicolas: [Not telling you.]
Jared was confused.

Staring at his icy question mark, Nicolas felt like Jared was about to block him if he pushed any further
But Nicolas ignored it.
Then, Natasha came back from the restroom, ready to say goodbye to Nicolas.
But Nicolas spoke up before she could. “Since you’ve quit, you’re not busy later, are you?”
Natasha paused, then instinctively shook her head.
Nicolas seized the moment. “I’m planning to hit up the mall nearby and pick out a gift for my new girlfriend. Mind tagging along?”
He didn’t even give Natasha a chance to say no.
She nodded along, not really having a choice.
“Okay,” she said.
After settling the check, they walked out of the café together.
Nicolas invited Natasha to hop into his sports car.
His phone kept ringing nonstop.
It was all Jared blowing up his phone.
Nicolas didn’t even bother to pick up.
Natasha reminded him, “Aren’t you going to answer?”
Nicolas arched a brow. “My rule? Beautiful women always come first.”
Natasha stared at him, lost for words.
Nicolas’s sports car soon pulled up to a nearby mall.
He parked in the underground garage.
They took the elevator upstairs.
Nicolas headed straight for the international women’s fashion department with her.
Natasha had only planned to help pick out some clothes, but Nicolas asked her to be his model and try them on herself.
Since she was already there, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
She ended up trying on dozens of outfits.
Nicolas snapped up every outfit she modeled.
Natasha guessed his new girlfriend probably had a similar build to hers.
After trying on a designer skirt suit, Natasha stepped out of the fitting room.
She looked up, and to her surprise, Jared was right there.
He wore a jet-black overcoat and impeccably tailored suit pants, exuding effortless sophistication.
His sharply defined features looked like they were carved by an artist, carrying a cold, commanding air.
There was a powerful, controlled aura about him that made it impossible to look away.
It had been over a week since they’d last seen each other.
Natasha never expected to bump into him again, especially not at the mall.
Jared still looked as tall, handsome, and effortlessly charming as ever.
But he looked like he’d dropped a lot of weight.
Natasha wondered, ‘What’s going on with him lately?
‘How did he get so haggard in a few days?’
Nicolas nudged Jared with his elbow, grinning. “Man, you got here in record time.”
Jared shot him a frosty look.
Jared’s gaze bored straight into Natasha, his eyes dark and impossible to read.
Natasha squirmed under his piercing stare, feeling all kinds of awkward.
Natasha wondered, ‘What’s up with the way Jared’s looking at me?
‘It’s like I wronged him or something.

‘It’s not like there’s anything between us anymore. We’re done.
‘Why’s he still looking at me like that?’
The sales assistant hurried over with the bill for Nicolas. “Sir, the dress this lady is wearing costs 300 thousand dollars
Natasha couldn’t help but gasp at the price.
‘Oh my god, a dress that’s almost 300 thousand dollars?’ Natasha thought.
