An Affair With The Ceo (Natasha and Jared) novel Chapter 265

Chapter 265 She Fired Him

Chapter 265 She Fired Him

Nicolas smirked. “Is it really that big of a deal? She fired you. That’s all.”

Jared was speechless.

Nicolas tried again. “Come on, be a bigger man. Don’t let getting fired by a subordinate get under your skin.”

Jared turned to him, giving him a long, hard look. “Are you taking her side?”

Nicolas puffed out his chest. “Hey, I’m still her ex-brother-in-law. What’s wrong with me standing up for her? And as your friend, I’m warning you. Don’t mess with her.”

Jared’s face grew even darker.

His eyes flashed with a cold, icy light.

If looks could kill, Nicolas would already be a corpse.

“Get out!”

Jared shouted without hesitation.

Nicolas was momentarily taken aback by Jared’s outburst.

But he wouldn’t leave, acting like he owned the place.

Natasha changed out of her dress and stepped out of the fitting room.

She saw Nicolas and Jared waiting for her outside.

“Nicolas, Mr. Rundell, I’m heading out,” she said.

She walked over, gave them a quick nod in greeting, and was about to leave.

“Natasha!” Nicolas called out, stopping her in her tracks.

Natasha paused, looking at him in confusion. “Is there something else?”

Nicolas grinned. “How about we all grab a bite together?”

Natasha parted her lips. Her instinct was to say no.

She and Jared were over.

They had nothing to do with each other anymore.

She honestly wanted nothing more to do with him.

But Nicolas didn’t give her a chance to refuse. “Hey, for your old brother-in-law’s sake, you’re not really going to say no, are you?”

Natasha couldn’t bring herself to say no.

But without waiting for her answer, Jared turned and left.

All she saw was his cold, indifferent back.

He was shutting her out completely.

She felt that there was no way he’d want to share a meal with her now.

Natasha totally understood.

Nicolas grinned, trying to smooth things over. “Don’t mind him. Let’s grab a meal together. My treat, as thanks for trying on so many outfits for me earlier.”

With him saying that, Natasha really couldn’t refuse.

Nicolas paid the bill, and they took the elevator downstairs together.

Once they were in his car, he turned to her and asked, “So, what do you want to eat?”

Natasha shrugged. “Whatever, you pick.”

“I know a new Thaylenian place up ahead that’s supposed to be good. Want to check it out?” Nicolas suggested, raising an eyebrow.

Natasha didn’t mind. “Sounds good.”

Successfully unlocked!

Nicolas pulled his sports car into the restaurar

As soon as they stepped out, a black sedan came barreling out of nowhere.

It was moving so fast that it nearly ran Natasha over.

“Careful!” Nicolas called out.

He reacted in a flash, grabbing Natasha’s arm and pulling her into his embrace to shield her.

Natasha hadn’t expected a car to come out of nowhere and nearly hit her.

Frightened, she shut her eyes tight on reflex.

When she opened them again, she realized she was in Nicolas’s arms.

Natasha froze for a moment, then, embarrassed, quickly pushed Nicolas away.

“Thanks.”

She looked down and mumbled.

Nicolas gave a small, casual smile. “No big deal.”

His expression barely changed.

But he couldn’t help tensing up.

His heart skipped a beat.

Nicolas couldn’t help but linger on the warmth of having Natasha in his arms moments ago.

Seeing that he didn’t seem to think anything of it, Natasha felt a little embarrassed for having overreacted.

She gave a small smile and let herself relax.

They walked into the restaurant together.

The waiter led them to a private room on the second floor.

As soon as they pushed open the door, both Natasha and Nicolas were stunned.

Jared, with his imposing presence, was sitting right there.

“Didn’t you say you weren’t coming?” Nicolas blurted out, unable to hide his surprise.

He couldn’t help but look at Jared in disbelief.

Jared shot him a cold look. “Who said I wasn’t coming?”

Nicolas was at a loss for words.

He realized Jared never actually said he wasn’t coming. He’d just walked off.

He thought, ‘Who would’ve guessed he’d show up out of nowhere without saying a word?’

Nicolas sniffed sulkily, clearly not thrilled.

“Well, since you’re here, let’s sit together,” Nicolas said.

So the three of them ended up sitting around the table together.

Nicolas ordered some wine and dishes.

As they waited, the atmosphere was awkward and tense.

Nicolas, sitting between Natasha and Jared, couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

He was always talkative, but now he had no idea how to start a conversation.

Nicolas cleared his throat loudly.

Nicolas coughed loudly, trying to get their attention.

Natasha and Jared didn’t react at all.

Instead, the waiter knocked and brought in the dishes one by one.

“Come on, let’s eat.” Nicolas said, trying to break the ice.

Nicolas urged them to dig in.

Jared still didn’t budge.

Nicolas turned to Natasha. “Pretty good place, right?”

Natasha nodded. “Yeah, the vibe is great.”

Nicolas grinned and explained, “The owner’s a Thaylenian descendant who’s really into classical aesthetics.

“He’s got great taste, so the whole place is really classy.”

Natasha looked around. “It really is nice. How did you find this place?”

Nicolas glanced at Jared beside him. “Jared actually brought me here first. The owner’s his friend.”

Natasha’s gaze landed on Jared.

He was staring right back at her.

Their eyes met.

Natasha’s heart skipped a beat.

She quickly looked away.

Jared’s eyes were deep, hard to read.

His features were striking, but his expression was icy and unyielding.
