Chapter 28 Is It Really Okay?
Chapter 28 Is It Really Okay?
Natasha never expected Joelle’s karma to come so quickly.
Even after Natasha had married Percy, Joelle still kept seeing him. Sometimes, they even stayed out all night together
Now, Joelle had just gotten married, and her own husband Nicolas had disappeared on her.
So now Joelle had finally tasted what it felt like to be abandoned by a husband.
But Sandra clearly couldn’t accept it. She kept complaining about Nicolas over the phone.
That night, Joelle was ignored by her new husband
Percy also didn’t come home the entire night. And Sandra stayed up worrying, crying until she couldn’t sleep.
The next morning when Natasha woke up, she saw news online about how Joelle had been humiliated by Nicolas at the wedding reception the night before.
Some people online were furious. They said Nicolas had no sense of responsibility as a husband. He had just gotten married and already left his wife alone.
Others said Joelle deserved it.
The internet never forgot things. Many people still remembered the scandal when Joelle had been caught kissing Percy and the photos were exposed online.
Those people didn’t feel sorry for her at all. They said she had brought it on herself.
Natasha only smiled faintly when she saw those comments.
Last night, Jared had told her to end her vacation early. After breakfast, she changed into a professional outfit and headed
out.
“Mr. Rundell.” Natasha knocked on the door and walked into the president’s office. She stopped in front of the desk.
Jared was in the middle of a video conference.
He glanced at her and gestured with his eyes. “Sort those reports out as soon as possible.”
Natasha followed his gaze. Several tall stacks of documents sat on the coffee table. Each one was almost half a meter high.
Natasha muttered, ‘Seriously? That’s way too much.’
She walked over and tried to carry them to her office. But they were much heavier than she expected.
Before she realized it, the stacks slipped out of her arms and scattered across the floor.
‘Damn, now I’m screwed; Natasha thought.
All the papers mixed together instantly.
“Mr. Rundell, I… I’m sorry.” Natasha saw Jared glance at her with those deep eyes and quickly apologized.
Jared paused the video meeting and stood up. He walked toward her and said, “Just organize them here.”
With that, Jared crouched down and helped her pick up the documents on the floor.
Natasha felt even more nervous. ‘This was clearly my mistake. How can I let the big boss pick things up for me?’
“Mr. Rundell, I can do it myself,” she said quickly.
Jared ignored her and gathered the documents. He placed them neatly back on the coffee table.
Then he returned to his chair and continued the meeting.
Natasha wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. She took a deep breath and began organizing the reports seriously. After finishing the video meeting, Jared glanced toward her without thinking.
Natasha was buried in the mountain of documents.
Sometimes she marked something with a pen. Sometimes she frowned slightly. She even muttered softly while reading.
Jared watched her quietly for a while. There was a softness in his eyes that even he didn’t notice.
Natasha had been focused on the reports when she suddenly felt a burning gaze on her.
She glanced over in confusion, and her eyes met Jared’s deep, unreadable stare.
Natasha’s breathing tightened. It felt like his gaze had pinned her in place.

“Hungry?” Jared suddenly asked.
Natasha blinked and came back to her senses. “No…” she replied.
Jared looked at her meaningfully. “Then why were you staring at me?”
Natasha’s face flushed instantly. She murmured, ‘Wasn’t him the one staring first?
‘But honestly, the phrase “good enough to eat” really suited him.”
Natasha mumbled softly, “If you weren’t looking at me, how would you know I was looking at you?”
And to her surprise, Jared didn’t bother denying it.
Instead, he stared at her even more openly. His gaze felt so intense that the air around them seemed thinner.
Natasha suddenly felt short of breath and quickly looked away.
But Jared had already walked over. His tall figure stopped right in front of her.
He lifted her chin with his fingers. “Why are you hiding?”
They were so close now, their breaths practically tangled together.
Natasha’s eyes flickered. Her voice came out uneven. “I’m afraid you might get so addicted to my beauty that you won’t be able to stop.”
Jared raised an eyebrow. “If I get addicted, why would you be scared?
“Scared I’ll eat you?”
At that moment, his handsome face was only inches away. His breath wrapped around Natasha.
The air in the office was definitely heating up.
Natasha’s thoughts started drifting somewhere dangerous. Her face burned hot, Even her breathing felt warm.
She felt like her whole body was burning up, and honestly, she was tempted to just jump Jared right then and there.
After staring at him for a long moment, Natasha finally blurted out, “I’m scared I’ll eat you.”
Hearing this, Jared fell silent.
Only then did Natasha realize what she had just said. She freaked out inside. ‘Oh my god. Why did that just come out?
‘Even if I was thinking it, I shouldn’t have said it out loud, especially right in front of him.’
Natasha scrambled to explain, panicking, “Mr. Rundell, I…”
But Jared gently tilted her chin. “Have you lost all sense of shame?”
Natasha had no answer.
Jared let go and lazily leaned back against the sofa beside her.
The edges of their clothes brushed together.
If she moved even a little, Natasha might fall right into his arms.
She became so nervous that she didn’t dare move. But her breathing was uneven.
