Chapter 313 She Won’t Accept His Kindness?
Blow after blow, with brutal force, with everything he had.
Every punch smashed into the man’s face. The man’s face quickly became unrecognizable from the beating.
For a moment, the only thing one could hear in the room was the man’s wails as he got beaten. The two accomplices Jared had knocked to the floor earlier tried to step in, but failed miserably.
They were completely awed by the intense aura Jared radiated, not daring to make a move.
Natasha struggled to get to her feet. She looked dazed, her whole body frozen. Her mind was completely blank; she couldn’ t even remember how to think.
But the sounds of the beating kept ringing in her ears, again and again. Her eyes flickered, and she finally started to react. Right as she turned her head, she caught sight of Jared pinning the guy down and pummeling him like a madman. Natasha felt like she must be dreaming. ‘Jared?’ Natasha thought, her mind spinning. ‘Am I seeing this right?”
Out of nowhere, Natasha saw Jared standing right there; she could hardly believe her eyes. ‘Did he really come all the way to save me?’ Natasha wondered, her heart skipping a beat.
A wave of warmth flooded Natasha’s heart. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears.
The man pinned to the floor was utterly powerless, his front tooth smashed, mouth overflowing with blood. Jared’s fists rained down like a hurricane, savage and unyielding.
The guy let out agonized screams, his pain echoing through the room. But Jared was ice-cold, ruthless, like a cold-blooded beast, showing not a shred of mercy.
He was dead set on ending him, no hesitation, no holding back. Jared showed no intention of letting up.
Little by little, the guy’s screams faded out. He passed out cold, and there wasn’t a single sound left from him.
Jared threw a few more savage punches at the guy, not holding back at all. Only then, like he’d finally let out all his rage, did he get up.
He turned and marched over to Natasha. The moment Natasha saw him, her heart surged with emotion. It was as if a stone had been tossed into the still waters of her heart, sending ripples across its surface.
Natasha looked up at him, her lips quivering. Two lines of tears burst forth, streaming down her cheeks.
“Jared…”Her voice was raspy, barely more than a whisper. It took everything she had just to say his name.
She’d never wanted to see him more than she did right now. And now, he was finally right there in front of her, just when she needed him most.
She was finally safe. If he hadn’t come, Natasha didn’t even dare to think about what might have happened. After everything, it was Jared who saved her.
Natasha wiped the tears from her face and got up quickly. Suddenly, she wanted to rush into his arms, just like those women who throw themselves at their man without a second thought.
She wanted to hold him tightly, as if clinging to a faint trace of warmth. His broad, warm chest carried a deep sense of security, something quietly comforting and hard to resist.
But in the end, Natasha stopped herself; she didn’t rush into his arms. She knew she shouldn’t lean on him that much.
Even though he was always there for her, never once letting her down. But Natasha was painfully aware of the distance between her and Jared, whether it was their worlds, their status, or just the way things were.
She knew all too well that soon they would be standing on opposite sides, forced to face each other as rivals. There was no point letting things get messy now; it was better to rip off the band-aid than let the pain drag on.
She’d already made her decision; there was no sense in letting it weigh her down any longer.
Jared gazed at Natasha; her eyes were reddened from crying, her clothes rumpled, her hair a mess, looking utterly disheveled.
His heart twisted hard inside him. It broke his heart to see Natasha like this. She looked like she’d been completely beaten down, as someone had really done a number on her.
Jared was pissed off at the guy who hurt her. He wanted nothing more than to beat him up again. He wished he could just tear the guy’s arms and legs off.
Only by doing that could he help Natasha vent all the anger and pain bottled up inside her. But he held himself back, refusing to go that far.

He hurried over to Natasha, dropped to a crouch, and looked her over carefully, checking every inch to make sure she was alright. Seeing she didn’t have any visible injuries, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
But Natasha’s wrists and ankles still had those rope marks; red and angry, clear as day. The marks looked brutal, making anyone who saw them wince.
Jared’s eyes darkened, his gaze turning even colder. He draped his jacket over her frail shoulders, then wrapped his arm firmly around her waist and pulled her close into his embrace.
“It’s over. You’re safe now. As long as I’m here, nothing can hurt you,” Jared said, his voice low and reassuring. His deep, gentle voice soothed her again and again, right by her ear, never letting up.
Natasha really wanted to just bury herself in his arms, to hide away in his embrace and feel safe for a moment. But she held back.
She refused to let herself rely on him too much; she wouldn’t let herself get swept up by him again.
‘Now that we’re on opposite sides, we’re destined to become enemies, Natasha thought, her heart aching. ‘Maybe it’s better if we never even started.’
“Let go of me!” Natasha burst out, pushing against Jared’s arms, her voice trembling with emotion.
Jared’s expression froze. He stopped in his tracks. Worry was written all over his face.
Jared looked down at her pale face, shock written all over his features. “Did you really just say that?”
Natasha locked eyes with him and said again, firmer this time, “I said, let go of me!” Her expression was full of reluctance, like she really didn’t want to do this.
That look cut Jared deep, hurting him more than any punch ever could. He thought that starting now, things between him and Natasha would finally make real progress.
But he never expected… He’d come here just for her, rushing to save her. But she treated him with such indifference. It was like she was steeling herself, firming up her resolve.
Natasha stepped back, retreating from Jared. She kept her distance from Jared. Her eyes were cold and distant; her beautiful face didn’t show a hint of emotion, completely unreadable.
She was cold as ice, as if nothing could touch her. No matter what Jared did, her icy demeanor never thawed.
‘Shit!’ he cursed inwardly. He gritted his teeth, frustration boiling inside; he’d never felt this defeated before.
Jared’s brow furrowed; he totally hadn’t expected things to turn out like this. Natasha still refused to let him in.
“Why?” Jared asked, his voice trembling with confusion. He couldn’t hold back anymore; he needed answers.
He’d saved her, helped her; so why was she still acting like he was some kind of monster? She avoided him like he was poison, like just being near him would ruin her.
Natasha kept backing away from him, her face cold as ice, totally shutting him out. “No reason! So what if you saved me? Does that mean I owe you anything?” Natasha shot back, her voice icy and sharp.
She tossed the question right back at him. Natasha knew deep down that saying this made her seem heartless.
But she had to do it if she wanted Jared to finally give up on her. She couldn’t help herself; she had to do it, even if it tore her up inside.
The spark in Jared’s eyes faded, his gaze growing dull. His heart clenched hard, hurting worse than any punch.
