Chapter 319 Deliberately Kept Her Distance

Chapter 319 Deliberately Kept Her Distance

At the Fleojan airport, Jared’s flight had just landed.

The moment Jared stepped out of first class, his phone rang.

“Mr. Rundell, Percy took Ms. Whittier out of the hospital,” his subordinate reported.

Jared stopped in his tracks.

His brows knitted together.

His intense, handsome face turned grim.

“What happened?” Jared demanded.

He gripped his phone tightly.

‘Why did something happen to Natasha right after I arrived in Fleojan?’ Jared thought to himself.

He had a nagging feeling that someone was up to something.

And nine times out of ten, that someone was Percy.

“They moved too fast. The bodyguards you left at the hospital couldn’t stop them,” his subordinate explained.

“Get someone to look into Percy Grosso right now!” Jared ordered without hesitation.

“Percy Grosso?” his subordinate echoed, confused.

‘Shouldn’t we be trying to find Ms. Whittier first? Is Percy involved in this?’ he wondered.

Jared’s tone was authoritative, intimidating even without anger. “Do I have to repeat myself?”

“No, I’ll look into it right away,” his subordinate replied, nodding quickly.

After hanging up, Jared looked deeply troubled.

Percy had taken Natasha away, and nobody knew where she was.

He couldn’t shake the fear that Percy might hurt her.

Percy had kidnapped her once. He was never up to anything good.

If Jared hadn’t shown up in time, Percy would’ve hurt Natasha for sure.

Jared was determined that he would never let anything happen to Natasha again

“Mr. Rundell, you should get in the car,” Jared’s secretary reminded him dutifully

It was getting late, and there were still a ton of problems at the branch office waiting for him to sort out.

“We’re going back!” Jared snapped, making his decision clear.

Jared didn’t bother getting in the car. Instead, he spun around and strode right back into the first-class cabin.

Everyone looked at each other, baffled.

“Wait, is Mr. Rundell not getting off the plane?” someone muttered in disbelief.

Natasha had been crashing at Percy’s villa for the past two days.

Percy kept sending a private doctor over on a regular schedule to check up on her.

He even brought in a nutritionist to make sure her health was taken care of.

Natasha’s health was getting better and better.

But it would still take some time before she was back to normal.

When she woke up that day, it was already afternoon.

Natasha was so hungry that her stomach was practically roaring.

After a quick wash, she headed downstairs to find something to eat.

But when she got downstairs, she realized there wasn’t a single maid in sight.

Only Percy was there, sitting by himself on the

Natasha heard Percy’s gentle voice from across the room.

When she looked up, he was already walking over to her, his long strides closing the gap between them

As he got closer, Natasha instinctively took a step back, keeping her distance from him.

When Percy saw her pull away on purpose, he felt a stab of pain in his chest.

But he didn’t hold it against her.

He knew earning her trust would take time.

The wounds between them weren’t something that could heal overnight.

“I’m pretty much healed now. Can I go?” Natasha asked, looking at him.

She looked at him, her gaze distant.

All she wanted right now was to get out of here as soon as possible.

Percy felt protective of her. “I told you, you can leave once you’re fully recovered.”

As he spoke, he reached out to gently caress her cheek.

But Natasha dodged him again, keeping her distance.

Natasha couldn’t stand being in the same room as him, not even for another second.

“I’m fine now,” Natasha said.

She ignored him.

And she strode straight toward the front door of the villa.

But just as she reached the door, a bodyguard burst out from nowhere and blocked her path.

She spun around and shot Percy a glare. “What’s your game?”

‘Is he seriously trying to trap me here?’ Natasha thought.

Percy gave her that calm, patient smile. “You’re still not fully healed. Be good and stay here until you’re better.”

“I won’t!” Natasha snapped, her voice full of defiance.

She was dead set on defying him, refusing without a second thought.

Percy was about to say something else when Natasha’s phone suddenly went off.

She was tempted to ignore it.

At this point, all she wanted was to push Percy into letting her leave right away.

But to her surprise, the phone kept ringing nonstop.

It was so persistent that she was starting to get annoyed.

Natasha shot a casual glance at her phone.

‘Of all people, it was Jared calling?’ she thought, surprised.

Even though Jared’s number had been wiped from her phone ages ago, she still recognized it the second it popped up.

‘Is Jared trying to reach me?’ Natasha thought, her heart skipping a beat in surprise.

But with Percy right there, she obviously couldn’t pick up.

She could only hang up the call for now.

“Who was calling?” Percy asked.

He watched her intently, waiting for her answer.

Natasha felt a wave of unease wash over her.

If Percy found out it was Jared calling, he’d probably snatch her phone away again.

“Just some random number,” Natasha lied, trying to sound casual.

The number didn’t even show up on the screen.

So saying it was a random call wasn’t a lie.

Percy wasn’t convinced. “If it’s just an unknown number, why didn’t you answer?” Natasha’s gaze shifted. “I… I just want to leave. I don’t want to pick up any calls.”

With that, she turned off her phone right in front of Percy, doing it defiantly out of spite. Only then did Percy finally stop suspecting anything.

“Bet you’re hungry. I made lunch for you myself. Come and have some,” Percy said.

He watched her with soft eyes, waiting for her answer.

Natasha nodded.

She couldn’t find it in herself to refuse at that moment.

Percy could never know she was still talking to Jared.

If he found out, she’d certainly lose her only way to connect with the outside world.
