‘Why does it always have to be about sex?’ Natasha thought.

Jared shrugged, “I’m not some saint. No normal guy can like a woman without wanting her. Platonic love? That’s just not me.”

In other words, when Jared said he liked her, he pretty much meant he wanted to hook up.

Natasha felt kind of turned off by that, for reasons she couldn’t explain.

It’s not that she minded being intimate with him.

But as a woman, Natasha naturally hoped a man would love her for who she was, not just for her body.

She lowered her gaze and didn’t say anything more.

Jared continued to coax her softly. “Let me be your boyfriend, okay?

“I want to have an official status as your boyfriend, so I can be with you and protect you.”

If he hadn’t used the boyfriend card tonight, there was no way he could have taken Natasha away.

Natasha knew that all too well.

He parted her lips, slipping past her teeth.

His tongue tangled with hers, exploring and claiming her mouth.
