Natasha was momentarily speechless at Jared’s question.

‘Yeah, what if Percy starts harassing me again?’ she thought.

At Whittier Group, Natasha showed up for her first day at work.

Apparently, her father Bernard hadn’t put in a word for her or made any introductions.

So nobody at the company had a clue she was the second daughter of the Whittier family.

After she reported to HR, the manager sent her straight to the warehouse.

The warehouse was the hardest and most grueling department at Whittier Group.

Almost everyone working there was a guy.

On her very first day at Whittier Group, she got sent to the warehouse.

It was definitely Roxanne’s doing.

Natasha thought, ‘Roxanne’s really looking out for me, huh.

The warehouse manager, Mr. Waugh, wasn’t in today.

But he wasn’t around today.

So for now, the assistant manager put Natasha to work.

After a full day of work, her back was sore and aching.

By the time Natasha got out of work, all she wanted was to rush home and lie down.

She was drained, not a single ounce of energy left in her body.

Just as Natasha stepped out of the office building, a luxury car pulled up right in front of her.

The back window rolled down, and Percy’s face, looking as familiar and handsome as ever, appeared in the back seat.

“Get in. I’ll take you home,” Percy said, his tone a little too enthusiastic.

Natasha shook her head instinctively. “No, thanks. Someone’s picking me up.”

Percy narrowed his eyes. “Who?”

Natasha was silent.

She didn’t want him to know Jared had arranged a chauffeur for her.

Natasha knew Percy all too well. He was insecure and way too possessive.

‘If he ever found out Jared had sent a chauffeur for me, God knows what kind of stunt he’d pull, Natasha thought.

So it was best not to provoke him.

Percy was quicker than she thought. He’d figured it out.

“Jared?” Percy said, his tone sharp.

Natasha’s eyes darted away, not sure what to say.

Natasha was still racking her brain for an answer when the chauffeur that Jared sent pulled up right in front of them.

“My ride’s here,” Natasha called out.

She gave Percy a quick wave before hurrying over to the car.

Percy saw Natasha climb into the car right in front of him.

A flash of frustration flickered in his eyes.

Anyone could tell that luxury ride was Jared’s.

‘So she is with Jared now, Percy thought.

His eyes flashed with intense jealousy and hatred.

Percy’d always believed Natasha liked him.

He thought if he ever turned back and accepted her, they’d get back together eventually.

But Percy never expected Jared to come between them like this.

That added a whole bunch of new variables to the situation.

He knew Jared was a tough opponent.

Getting Natasha back from Jared wouldn’t be easy.

Percy’s eyes were deep and unreadable. “Follow that car up ahead.”

The driver nodded and hit the gas.

Natasha told the chauffeur to drop her off at her best friend Dorothy’s home.

She had just gotten out of the car and was about to head into the neighborhood when Percy’s car pulled up right in front of her.

Percy stepped out of his car.

Natasha stared at him, stunned. “You… Why are you here?”

‘Why won’t he leave me alone? He’s like a ghost that keeps popping up, Natasha thought, exasperated.

Percy said, “I followed you here.”

Natasha’s expression stiffened.

‘Can’t believe he said that out loud, Natasha thought, stunned.

“You followed me?” she snapped, her voice tight with anger.

Natasha thought, ‘He just straight up admitted it.

‘Clearly, he doesn’t even respect me.’

“Yeah, I followed you,” Percy said bluntly, unfazed, shooting a look at the neighborhood behind her.

“So that’s why you haven’t been home lately. You moved in here, huh?”

Natasha’s face went cold. “What’s it to you?”

Percy raised an eyebrow. “Your best friend Dorothy lives here, doesn’t she?”

Natasha’s guard went up. “What are you up to?”

Since Percy had already tracked down that Dorothy lived in this neighborhood, there was no way he was bringing it up for nothing.

He definitely had something planned.

“Don’t be so tense, I’m just checking in on you out of concern,” Percy said softly, flashing a warm smile.

But that smile of his gave Natasha the creeps.

“Percy, I’m warning you! Whatever mess is between us, keep it between us. Don’t drag innocent people into it,” she snapped, her voice sharp with warning.

But Natasha didn’t realize that by saying all that, she’d handed him her biggest weakness, showing him exactly what she cared about most.

Percy raised an eyebrow. “What, you afraid I’ll use your best friend to get to you?”

Natasha glared at him. “Would you?”

Percy’s lips curled into a sly smile. “I wasn’t going to, but since you brought it up, that’s actually a pretty good idea.”

He was seriously considering using Dorothy as leverage against Natasha now.

Natasha snapped, “Don’t you dare mess with Dorothy! If anyone so much as touches her, you’ll have to answer

to me.”

Percy stared at her, his eyes intense. “That all depends on how you handle this.”

Natasha squinted at him. “So what is it you want?”

Percy shrugged. “I want us to start over. But you keep shutting me out, and it really gets to me.”

He played the victim, acting all hurt and wronged.

But underneath, it was a threat.
